Dvd Mike:
Was the entire Temptations In A Mellow Mood session cut in NYC at Bell Sound? Also do you have the dates of "Oh Mother Of Mine" and "Romance Without Finance" - tunes they had cut as the Pirates with Andre Williams producing?

Oh Mother of Mine and Romance Without Finance were cut as the Temptations on Miracles Records. Mind Over Matter and I'll Love You Til I Die were cut as the Pirates (the Temptations) on the Melody label.

I wonder if the vocals to 'Ol Man River weren't recorded in Detroit. I could swear I was sitting in that session one night and Russ was the engineer.

Kev, I only have the info on those two songs from the "In A Mellow Mood" LP. "Oh, Mother Of Mine" and "Romance Without Finance" were recorded in the spring of 1961, don't know the exact dates, though. The sessions were produced by Andre Williams & Mickey Stevenson. As far as I know, the whole LP was cut as Bell Sound. Harry Weinger would have more info than I would, he has access to the session tapes and notes. Also, let's talk about what you mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago.
Ralph, it's possible that the vocals might have been cut at Hitsville. Like I said before, if anyone has better info than I, I welcome the corrections. I'd rather be happy than right.

HEY MIKE,IT'S VERY INTERESTING ABOUT..TEAR FROM A WOMAN'S EYES BECAUSE FROM THE SOUND OF IT YOU WOULD THINK IT WAS RECORDED IN 66,ALSO MOST OF THE EARLY WORK WAS DONE IN ONE DAY BUT SOME OF THE LATER SONGS TOOK SEVERAL DAYS OR WEEKS,DID IT TAKE THAT LONG TO LAY DOWN THE VOCALS OR THE WHOLE SONG?THANKS.

I might have a minute to look up a few more dates.
And attribution for the information posted would be nice!

I got the info from the booklet that came with the Temptations' "Emperors Of Soul" box set.
