Have you thought about records that are without an intro? They just "jump" in with the first verse right away! It sort of sounds like a quirky way to start a song sometimes, but it's a way to cut to the chase.

Examples:
"Love's Gone Bad" - Chris Clark
"I'm In A Different" - The Four Tops
"Since You've Been Gone" - Aretha Franklin

This reminds me of the 1998 tour with Kim Weston and Brenda Holloway (eat your heart out you guys from the US!!).

Kim missed the beat starting "Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me For A Little While)" and the song had to be halted whilst she tried to get the excited crowd to calm down! That night it was difficult to get anyone to calm down...what a great nite that was!!

You guys over in the States miss out on these nites and that is a real shame.

John Lester:

How dare you make us USites jealous by saying you saw a Kim Weston/Brenda Holloway tour! LOL!! How incredible that must have been. The media needs to pay attention to these legends and create demand for a tour here. Imagine an Edwin Starr/Kim Weston/Brenda Holloway, Originals tour of the States!

Some of these songs have drumrolls or orchestra hits at the beginning which I consider intro's.

sly fan, David Bowie's "Let's Dance" has a long intro."Bernadette" has about a 6 second intro.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Uptight! (24.55.6.144) on Thursday, March 20, 2003 - 01:47 pm:

Thanks John and Julian. I was expecting more songs that start immediately with the first VERSE instead of its chorus? :)
