Didn't Nelly get that band-aid from the former St. John's University basketball player? The whole team picked up on it and played a season with band-aids on their faces.

On David Ruffin and Buddy Holly I must concur. My wife thought I was nuts after I purchased my black horn-rimmed glasses a few years ago; after I left my old ones in a car rental in Orlando FL.

Fayette:
Not taking anything away from the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes but another great entertainer wore eye-patches of different shades & patterns before his colleague Frank Sinatra advised him not to trivialize his eye injury.
The former man with the patch - Sammy Davis Jr.
(who went on to make gold chains/jewerlry & Nehru jackets the in-thing!)

Wearing a black glove on the right hand by a lot of rare soul punters at the all-nighters in the very early 1970's.
Around the same time (especially Blackpool Mecca)wearing blazers with a lot of buttons on the cuff sleeves.
Long hair parted in the middle.
Long Side burns.
Ben Sherman shirts(or jaytex lookalikes for the poor)
Loafers(with tassells)
Como Brouges(with leather soles for dancing)
Record Labels embroided onto Pullovers.
Some of the trends I grew up with on the rare soul scene(uk)in my youth.

What a scene that must have been. I would've shown up wearing my sharkskin suit, high-collared shirt & skinny tie with a part in my afro on the left side.
Then again I would want to lose fifty pounds before I try wearing this wardrobe again!
