Greetings posters. When I first purchased "Meet The Temptations" one of the cuts on that LP is 'Your Wonderful Love' lead by Paul Williams.

My question is: Is it safe for me to say that "power-that-be" at Motown were leaning towards the Impressions' 'For Your Precious Love' looking to make some noise for the "hitless" Temptations? Did the writers and producers look for a "hit" from elsewhere to give the Temptations a spot on the charts?

Thank you in advance,

Joe, I think the answer is quite clearly YES. I'm sure you've tried the "experiment" - singing the Impressions' original over the top of it. (Perfect fit!) ;o)

YOUR WONDERFUL LOVE WAS INDEED PATERNED AFTER THE IMPRESSIONS FIRST HIT,I THINK THAT BERRY WAS HOPING FOR LIGHTING TO STRIKE TWICE.

The Tempts "Witchcraft" reminds me of the Impressions' "Gyspy Woman." Same here, huh?

Hello everyone,

I noticed too that "My Pillow" from the L&F CD sounds alot like "Two Silhouettes On The Shade". At least, what I think of when I hear it.

Peace!

Yeah, "My Pillow" does sound like it. You may also remember a thread last summer about a fifties version of "My Pillow" that I uncovered by another group. Smae song. I can email it to you if you want (if I can find it).
