Hi folks, and Sherlock Holmes!

Can anyone here tell me anything about this label and the singer. I have got three Inter/Soul singles, all with different colors. One blue, one red and one black. Same design. The last one has a sticker with "JU-PAR RECORDS, LTD" printed on it.

Sandra Richardson has a great voice and this is a heavy Detroit stomper. I have not seen her name on any other record. Have you?

A few years ago, I remember seeing one of her cassingles in Tower Records. I didn't buy it, so I have no idea what it sounds like. At one time, she was also signed to Michigan Satellite Records. Unfortunately, I have never heard any of her solo material.

However, I have enjoyed Sandra for many years as one of Aretha Franklin's background singers. She can be seen singing backup for Aretha on the recent RHYTHM, LOVE AND SOUL special on PBS.

Also, sometimes she goes by the name Sandra Feva.

Lars,
this is a great tune and has sat in my personal top ten for many, many years. I am a little dissapointed that this one has drawn a blank on the forum as I would also loved to have known more about this singer.

Could Jack Ashford help?

By the way, my copy of this is on orange inter/soul, I've also seen pale blue copies aswell.

regards

Last time I ran into Sandra, which was a long time ago, she was a secretary type at Venture Records. She was also an artist there under the Sandra Feva moniker.

As you may know, Sandra Feva has recorded background for the Dramatics. "The Very Best Christmas of All." Also, I believe she is singing a song with LJ on one of his solo recordings.

I think inter/soul was a ditributership owned by the same guy who ran Geneva records, Ernest Kelly.

For me Sandra Feva is one of the best female soul voices there is - a lot like Gladys Knight. A very underrated songstress!
I think she cut altogether three albums: The Need To Be and Savoir Faire for Venture in '79 and '81 and Fever All Through The Night (partially her own covers) for Grandstand.
Especially Savoir Faire belongs to those "desert island" albums. The highlights is a magnificent country & soul version of Let The Roses Die.
She also has singles on such labels as Krisma, Catawba and Ribbons.
She was a part of the Freedom Soldiers on The Quiet Strength Of Rosa (A Tribute To Mrs. Rosa Parks on Verity).
Anybody know any more?

If you have not heard "Stay Here with Me" I can tell you that the intro is a big surprise. The trumpet sounds a bit like he is playing a small part of "Eleanor Rigby" at the very beginning. The groove is like Temptations' "Ain't to Proud to Beg"... and the rhythm track is even heavier than that. Jack Ashford has done an excellent job (as usual) with the song. The sound is more "old school" Motown than Motown itself at the time (1974)a real favorite of minereally worth looking for.

Graham is right that Inter-Soul is an Ernest Kelly label. The earliest Sandra Richardson 45 I know is on Buddah--maybe from '71 or so--and, if I remember right, was written by Jack Ashford and Lorraine Chandler.

Hi Everyone

Just to let you know that Sandra actually performed at Pat Lewis's benefit the other week. I only just found this out from speaking to Laura Lee who also attended. Sandra sang only one song which was Let's Stay Together - a song inspired by Laura's time with Al!! Apparently, Sandra has had her own health problems but thankfully appears to have recovered.
