THIS IS A QUESTION THAT I LIKE TO ASK FROM TIME TO TIME WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE TEMPS AND SO FAR NO ONE HAS ANSWERED IT RIGHT YET,SO HERE GOES..WHAT WAS THE LAST SONG THAT DAVID RUFFIN SANG LEAD ON WITH THE TEMPTATIONS?

'YOU BETTER BEWARE' on the Reunion LP in 1982. I believe Rudy Robinson was the keyboard player on that session.

I always felt David's finest work was on the 'I WISH IT WOULD RAIN' LP with his lead on 'I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You)' as his swan song with the Temptations. Somewhat prophetic in a kind of way. I think he really loved being a Temptation more so than being a solo performer.

R&B,

As you ask the question this way... something fishy is going on. Anyway I'll give it a try.

Last single with the "classic" Temps David sang lead on was "I Could Never Love Another After Loving You". Next single was "Please Return Your Love To Me" (Eddie on lead) and B-side "How can I Forget" with Paul on lead.

Then the following single was "Cloud Nine" and Dennis was in the group and David out. The year was 1968.

... but David got together with the group again for the "Reunion" project 1982. Two singles were released but David was not on lead there.

My vote goes for the album track "You Better Beware" written and produced by Barrett Strong with David on lead. (What a great voice!)

If they sang together after that on a back street in X-ville with David on lead I'm out...

LG Nilsson and R&B - I'm a true Temptation fan all the way. Earl Lewis knows that if Otis (Williams) ever gives me a call (yeah... right) I'd leave the Channels in a New York minute and become a Temptation in a DETROIT second.
