Interesting stuff. It's hard to believe "Hello Stranger" is that old- it still sounds so amazing. Wasn't Vanilla Fudge produced by shadow Morton , though? Also the producers name on he King Floyd record was new to me....was Elijah Walker credited on the album?

I thought Cool Jerk was released in the Spring of 63.

You're right, Shadow Morton did produce Vanilla Fudge, sorry for the typo. He also produced The Shangri-Las a few years earlier. Elijah Walker's name should have been on the album, he was the producer, and "Cool Jerk" was released in the spring of '66. Hey Eli!!

Just a bit of trivia. Leland Rogers, who produced Esther Phillips' original version of "Release Me" is the older brother of superstar Kenny Rogers. In the future, I'll be posting that sort of trivia.

As always, great research!
I had no idea Walter Jackson cut "The Coldest Days Of My Life" before the Chi-lites did (by almost two years). I looked it up under Bashie/Dakar in my discography book but couldn't locate it. Was this released on Atlantic or Atco? Walter's one of my favorite singers & I dig the songs he cut for Okeh and Chi-Sound.

PS - Any chance of locating any Rascals session info?

Walter Jackson's "Coldest Days of My Life" was released as a B-Side on Cotillion Records in 1970. The A-Side flopped so it went unnoticed. Jackson only had two singles on Cotillion, and I don't believe an album, so even his most ardent fans are unaware of the cut.
