Hi Dotty,

Blue Magic still performs their magic. Many corporate gigs and package shows like "70s Soul Jam." While Ted "Wizard" Mills, the original lead singer left years ago, he is active performing and writing gospel. My understanding is that the rest of Blue Magic has stayed intact with the latest member joining about 13 years ago. My contacts with Ted Mills and one of the other members of the current Blue Magic leads me to think they are a fine group of guys who have been very willing to let a true fan celebrate their music. Also, since I started to learn to play drums a little a year ago, they were very encouraging of my efforts, especially since my first song to learn was "Sideshow."

You'll find lots of Blue Magic experts on this site, including Bobby Eli, who produced the group and penned some of their finest songs.

Do a search of the achives under Blue Magic and Ted Mills and you'll discover some magic in the threads. Have fun!

Hi Dotty,
Yes they are working indeed. I spoke to Wendell Sawyer not long ago and he was getting ready to go to Bermuda to do a gig.
I remember many moons ago in the summer of '74, they were appearing at the Miss Bermuda pageant
at tha theater in Hamilton and my late wife and I flew down there and rented a suite and made arangements with the hotel to give them a lawn party and let me tell you it was a blast!!!
They are truly a class act.
I would love for Ted to return and really make it special.

Having been their producer/writer back in the day gave me great pleasure and watching Ted record Sideshow, Three Ring Circus and all the others gave me goosebumps.

Fayette,
Blue Magic's fol up Three Ring Circus was somewhat of a hit reaching # 1 r&b as did Grateful.
Summer Snow, Spell, Stop tO Star, Look Me Up,
Tear It Down, Love Has Found Its Way To Me were all chart sucesses.
They swiyched to Mirage and then to Capitol and then to Def Jam where I was to do the 2nd album but of course it never happenrd.
