I suppose that when a person is taken from a near poverty financial state to that of one of "overnight wealth" as in some of our recent musical idioms, one would tend to live way beyond their means and feal infallable and immune to a return to poverty, but so many times the lack of humility and the onset of overt greed can destroy a carreer and stop it before it starts.
So many of our young acts are so ignorant to the buisness and only live for the "bling".

Fayette....many of the people on this forum are in "the business" and for a number of reasons just would not want to "go there" and name names. You might want to check out the archives of www.thesmokinggun.com for the section on contract riders & you can see where the egos of certain stars are.

To hitch-hike onto Eli's point, artists who have survived for several years (such as the legends we talk about here in the Forum) have lasted this long mainly because they haven't let success go to their heads or if they did, they may have hit a brick wall and learned from their lessons.

Radio Shack sells turntables made by RCA. The asking price is around one hundred dollars.

The best thing is to check out thrift shops in your area and find a record player for cheap (I bought my Aiwa turntable for twenty bucks)and order a replacement needle through Radio Shack which sells needles & cartridges for several makes & models.

Good luck!

The only egos that I have encountered were with "writers" who are not qualified to write and
"producers" who know nothing about producing.
You go and try to change an "a" to a "the" and they are ready to rumble. Uh Uh cant use those kinda folks.
They usually wind up at the dealership anyway selling used Edsels.
You have to keep an open mind when creating songs and not be adament about having it their way. When they do this I tell them to go directly to Burger King!!
I have not had too many problems with artist egos as in the studio they are just on of the boys/girls.
