I have a technical question. Why did record companies (like Motown) continue to make 45s with stereo & mono sides in the 70s when both sides would contain the same stereo master? Was the mono side specifically for AM stations just so that the record would maintain proper "phase" during its broadcast?
Can someone answer this? It has boggled me for a long time.
