The last I heard about Lola Falana was that she was living with family in Philadelphia, PA.

I've always loved her. She and I share the same birthdate, 9/11.

Doesn't she suffer from the same crippling
disease as Richard Pryor and Annette Funicello?

Hello everyone,

Lola Folana is alive & well. She is now with a ministry. I can't remember the site but she's a minister now. Her MS has been remission for a number of years & she looks great. Sorry for not remembering the site I saw her on.

Peace!

Hello fayette,

No, it seems like she hasn't aged at all. Here's a link on a program that she will be featured on. Hope this link works:

Back in '76 WMOT signed Lola when they had their Atlantic deal.
I went out to Vegas with my wife and Len Barry to catch her show and we went backstage to meet her and show her some tunes, some of which hit home as they were written for her based on her life.
When she got to Philly rehearsals were held at my home with sugar Bear Forman on bass, Charles collins on drums, dennis Harris and myself on guitars and Kersey and Cotton Kent on keys.
Lola is a blast to work with and we had mad fun together.
I usually ran her back to her hotel after the sessions and we would grab a bite prior to that.
The next day the guys would all look at me with that quizzical look in their eyes....
but I was a married man!!!!
All in all it was a lovely experience with some great commercial songs but Atlantic in all their infinite wisdom shelved it. Oh Well....

I met Lola Falana back in the summer of 1968 when the play she was featured in, "Golden Boy" was playing at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. My aunt, Quida Lindsay was a local journalist and friend to many. She threw a cast party at her house and everyone attended, including the star, Sammy Davis, Jr, Lola and a dancer in the company, later to be Sammy's wife, Altovise Gore. I was only 13 at the time, but I was allowed to attend, and it was summer at the time. Sammy was friendly and cool, as were the majority of the cast and crew. But Lola was a bit stiff and distant and seemed as if she really didn't want to be there. That was the memory of Lola that I kept for many years until I saw her on an awards show several years ago. She seemed humbled and thankful and said something to the effect of, "I wanted to find out if I was God's child, and now I know that I am God's child". Then my whole perspective of her changed forever. I wish her nothing but the absolute best.
