Folks:
I wrote the liner notes to Earth Wind & Fire's Greatest Hits in 1998. According to my sources at Columbia/Legacy/Sony Music, Maurice has a form of Parkinson's Disease that has limited his work to the recording studio. He did appear with the band when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. He looked well enough to be onstage yet when they performed "Shining Star" Phillip Bailey handled all of the vocals (if you all recall, Maurice & Phillip shared the lead on that classic #1 hit). When he is well enough, he will make short appearances with the current EW&F (usually closer to his California home). The next time I speak to Leo Sacks (who is in charge of remastering & reissuing the EW&F catalog for Columbia/Legacy and works closely with Maurice)I will tell him to please send Mr. White our regards.
Respectfully,
Kevin Goins - KevGo
