A friend of mine just got back from Europe and he told me about Detroit's popularity there. I am not trying to brag, but Detroit's musical force cannot be denied.
Detroit Techno: Huge in Europe. Especially in Germany and Belgium. Very important.
Motown: Motown is the primary source of inspiration for Northern Soul fans.
Garage Rock: The White Stripes are very popular along with the Von Bondies and others.
Eminem: He is like a god over there according to my friend. He is very popular
Old School: Mc5, Iggy Pop and Bob Seger are adored by lots of fans in the UK.

A lot of European techno snobs will not admit it. I have been on forums for Eyro music magazines and many call Dusselldorf the home of tecnho.
