I was kicking this great dance jam called,
" Speading Honey" b/w "Grits And Corn Bread",
by the Soul Runners on the Mo Soul label released
early 1967. There is a first pressing of this
particular 45 that I'm looking for. The first
pressing, features the bridge part of "Speading
Honey", without the sax solo and hand claps, just
the bass and drums. The second pressing features
the sax solo and hand claps. Anyone on SD
familiar with this first pressing release ???

Peace,
Mike Boone

Hi Mike,

I'd no idea there were two versions - how do you tell them apart ? different colour labels ?

The Soul Runners are supposedly an early lineup of
the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band

Hey Davie,
No it's not the label but on the first pressing
of Speadin' Honey, there are no hand claps nor
sax solo. In the second pressing, there are hand
claps and a sax solo. That's how much of value
the first pressing of their 45 release is.

Peace,

Its the same group just a different mix. That use to confuse me also!!

Spreadin' Honey a KGFJ classic (those of yall who lived in LA).

They also were "The Blazers" for Dyke.

I had both and if memory serves me right the second record was already credited to the Watts 103rd. I had it on a white label, perhaps Keyman (?). Anyway, they pop up here and there on ebay reasonable cheap.
