THAT MOTOWN THREAD MADE ME THINK OF SOMETHING VERY RARE...IS THERE ANYONE OUTTERE IN SOULFUL DETROIT LAND WITH THE [FIRST]COPY OF [SHOP AROUND]WITH CLAUDETTE ON LEAD,THAT COPY DID HIT THE STREETS BEFORE BERRY RECALLED IT FOR RERECORDING.NOW THAT'S A RARE RECORD,ANYONE GOT IT?

That's interesting I thought it was Smokey and they just redid it making the tempo a little faster ect.The only time I know that Claudette did leads(besides a couple of LP tracks) was on the first Motortown Revue when Smokey was out with the Hong Kong flu.

The Smokey Robinsom & the Miracles 35th Anniversary Collection box set had both the Detroit and National Hit versions of Shop Around and they are as Tony described. Was there a third variant?

Ken

I'm going to ask Ms. Claudette this question! That would be an intriguing listen!
