I am not sure if this was covered earlier, but anyhow,
first,is the name Shaw or Shawn?
And is Damon still recording today?
Although the Detroit Emeralds cut a really great version of Damons 'Feel the Need' the original by Damon, on as I know it,(uk)Janus records just,be it slightly, just edges it for me.
Does anyone know what he is doing these days.
As always,
any info much appreciated.

R&B,
I dont know it at all mate,
but will look out for it.
These are what I have/had by the EMERALDS,either upstairs in my boxes or used to have.
I'll keep coming back/Take me the way I am on Ric Tic records(no.141).
Show Time/inst/Ric Tic(135).
Ode to Billy Joe/Shades Down/Ric Tic(138).
And Holding on by them (not anymore)on the Westbound record Label, cant remember the flip or number.
I was thinking of starting a thread about the group, and unless someone else beats me to it may do one in the coming months.
There is a lot I know about them(within reason)obviously not as much as a lot of people on here know but it is always good to start the ball rolling now and again.
Catch ya later R&B.

I believe that it was Damian Shawn. I think that it was the same backing track.

Mel, Bobby
It's Damon Shawn. I've a feeling there might have
been another Westbound single but will have to check.
The Damon Shawn version of "Feel The Need .." was
produced by Katouzzian Productions i.e the Emeralds themselves (probably just Abe Tilmon).
It's years since I heard it but doesn't it use the same backing track as the Emeralds' own version ?

I have got two 45's by Damon Shawn on Westbound. Both sides on the two singles are written and pruduced by Abe Tilmon.

There's another one on Westbound 190, "I've Got
To Move" / "Admit Your Love Is Gone" and surprise,
surprise, both were also tracks on Detroit Emeralds' albums. I haven't heard this one, Damon's first, but it wouldn't surprise me if
they use the same backing tracks as the Emeralds'
versions.
Came across a contemporary review of Damon's version of "Feel The Need ." it IS the same
backing track as the Emeralds.
