Over the Valentine weekend, I decided to pull out,
another smooth classic Lp that puts my musical
soul at ease...........Smokey's masterpiece album,
" A Quiet Storm"............Just listening and
thinking and believing this Lp will be celebrating
28 years in the world..........The album would also revolutionized the concept of a "Quiet Storm"
R&B radio format, all over the country, during the
early part of the 80's..........What's your
opinion SD, about this great LP ????
Peace,
Mike Boone

My sister Pam loved this album and turned me onto it when it was released in 1975. I remember seeing Smokey perform the title track on American Bandstand (which was DEEP for that program!). I bought my vinyl copy from a flea market years ago (mint condition) and it plays very well. As for the music, well what can be said? It helped launch a great radio format that still dominates urban radio to this day.

PS - I do dig his version of "Happy"

I love this record too. To me, it's one of the best Motown albums, and an artistic high point for Smokey. I think it's the one album of his that approaches the level of Marvin and Stevie...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SMOKEY.
Any picture of SMOKEY is kool, but this is my all time favorite.Looking at "SMOKEY",the look on his face looks like he's telling ED,HEY EAT S--T.
Not so,but it sure does look it,while he is realy saying thank you.
