This has bugged me for years....but I'm sure that someone here will know:
After Eddie's departure from the Temps he did a solo spot on Ed Sullivan. Midway through the song a "plant" in the audience takes the song (then does a line or two)...sounding just like Eddie...then he says "Ladies and Gentlemen...there is only one Eddie Kendricks !!" and then takes his seat. The guy looked quite a bit like Eddie & was almost a vocal double. Was/is there a brother with similar chops ?? Does anyone else remember this performance ? Was this a common stunt he used in his performances ?

In the late 60s, some of the Ed Sullivan music spots featured special video effects. I don't know if this was one of them, but it's one possibility. I'm thinking specifically of an ES clip I have of The Loving Spoonful doing "Do You Believe in Magic" where they keep disappearing and reappearing throughout the song as the background changes as well.

To hitch-hike on Ken's point, Ed Sullivan was known for using "double effects" on music performances. For example, Spanky & Our Gang's performance of "Like To Get To Know You" (1968) featured the band on a stage with the same members in front wearing tuxes sipping champagne (like a ballroom scene).

Thanks for the input guys...I guess that is a possibility. For whatever reason, I just never thought about s/fx in this case......"But I could have sworn...." (LOL)

Don't feel bad. The video compositing for some of those effects looked better in a lot of ways than some of the optical compositing that was going on in films of the time.

Ken

I did do some business with a Quentin Kendricks who claimed to be Eddie's uncle. We were never able to come to any deal together but I liked the guy and he really seemed to have his act together.

While on the topic of EJK's kin ... I was wondering about his children. I realize that EJK was a very private person, but I was just wondering if anyone knows if any of his kids had a talent or interest in singing or perhaps they inherited Eddies' fashion sense. Anyone know anything??
Family members of some of the other Tempts have web sites of their own or participate in other forums but I have never seen anything from any kin of Eddie's.
Also I would be interested in more details of EJK's Sulliavan appearance. I have all the Tempts appearances but did not relized Eddie appeared solo. Is this video readily available? I just gotta have it if it is.
TIA

Eddie Kendrick's son is married to one of Diana Ross' daughters. I can't recall their names or remember if Eddie has more than one son.
