AS ALL TEMPTATIONS FANS KNOW,YOU CAN ALWAYS HEAR MEVIN FRANKLIN'S BOOMING BASS IN EVERY SONG,BUT THERE ARE TWO SONGS FROM BACK IN THE DAY WHERE HIS BASS IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND,LISTEN CLOSELY TO{BABY BABY I NEED YOU AND NO MORE WATER IN THE WELL}I REMEMBER OTIS STATING THAT THERE WERE TIMES WHEN ALL THE TEMPS WEREN'T AROUND WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR RECORDING.MAYBE SOMEONE HERE WHO HAS WORKED AT MOTOWN DURING THAT TIME CAN SHED SOME LIGHT HERE,THANKS.

Not to mention that on the "Puzzle People" lp Paul sings "Little Green Apples" by himself.
I don't hear ANYONE ELSE singing with him.
Perhaps someone can explain that as well.
Did only Paul show up to record that day?
Was the wrong song used for the lp, i.e. did they forget the backing track or what?

sdl- Maybe they were looking for a more simple sound for "Little Green Apples". It is a bit different than the standard Motown since the guitars get to do a 45 second intro before the vocals start. I think it's one of the highlights of the album.

R&B - I think there was a similar post a while back that tells of a Four Tops session where only Laurence showed up. He then performed all the backing vocals himself.
