Hi all out there,

I just received a copy of Drum from Sam Ash Music and it has a large article on Jack and Uriel and a lot of the Snakepit recording technique! I will give you a run down when I finish reading it!!

If anyone else gets the magazine, chime in and let me know what you think!

Daren,
wasnt Uriel Jones on Drums with the Rivals on Puff records?
The track I have had once had was called 'Love Me'.
If memory is right it was after this or thereabouts that he joined Earl Van Dyke and co.
Regards
mel.

Hi Mel,

Unfortunatly, I cant answer the question because records of which drummer playing on a specific track doesnt exist. I do know how to tell which drummer played because of the fills they did on the drum breaks.

Also, I have never heard that specific track because I am still wet behind the ears before Motown and the Philly sound. Im sorry :( But Im am sure that the esteemed ladies and gentlemen of this forum can answer that for you.

Thanks
Daren

Daren:
Hang around here and ask us many questions, especially Bobby Eli (who worked with the great drummer Earl Young), Jack Ashford (who was born & raised in Philly prior to his Motown affiliation) and Ralph Terrana (whose band the Sunliners became Rare Earth and their drummer is Pete Rivera). Many of these folks would be happy to share their knowledge with you.

Hey Mr Kev!

I have had the wonderful opportunity to talk to Bobby Eli (and Miss Vonnie!! :)) on the phone and I have to tell you that they are the best!!! (As are everyone else here!!)I only recently realized that he is responsible for the "For the Love of Money"guitar line as well as playing on "Mighty Love!!!

(I still CANNOT figure out for the life of me how the same band sounds totally different!! ;))

I played drums on a track for Eleanor Grant a couple of years ago in Gladwynne, Pa and the engineers there called me "Little Earl Young". I was so taken aback by that, because I do not place myself that high in that type of category. If you guys ever talk to him, tell him that it was a great honor to be mentioned in the same sentence with him!!! :)!!

And I am always lurking around here reading Ralph's and everyones great Motown stories!! I love it!!

Anyway, I am hoping when our schedules correspond to get together at the studio with you guys to get together and jam out and sign autographs one day soon!!

You guys set it up and I will book the time!!
