I'M WONDERING WHY DENNIS EDWARDS, OTIS WILLIAMS
AND RICHARD STREET DON'T REUNITE AS THE TEMPTS.
SINCE THEY ALL PLAYED SUCH A IMPORTANT ROLE
THE THIS GROUP. I'M WONDERING WHAT RICHARD STREET
IS DOING THESE DAYS. IF HE'S STILL IN SHOW
BUSINESS.

Richard Street certainly is alive and kicking. There's an interview with him in the current issue of In The Basement magazine.

GREETINGS FAYETTE: I DON'T KNOW IF THIS SHEDS ANY LIGHT ON YOUR COMMENT...BUT JUST THE OTHER DAY, I WAS COMMENTING ON ANOTHER THREAD THAT BACK IN ABOUT 1983...I WAS HANGING AROUND THE MOTOWN STUDIOS IN WEST HOLLYWOOD...WHEN THE TEMPTATIONS STARTED FILTERING INTO THE LOBBY AREA...ONE BY ONE!!!...AS I RECALL...ALI AND RON FIRST...THEN DENNIS CAME WALKING IN, AND HE STARTED SPEAKING WITH THE OTHER GUYS...SEEMINGLY TRYING TO CONVINCE THEM THAT HE WANTED BACK IN THE GROUP!!!...OTIS SOON ARRIVED, AND THE SUBJECT CONTINUED!!!...I WAS JUST THE PROVERBIAL "FLY ON THE WALL"!!!...APPARENTLY, OTIS WAS NOT UP WITH THE PROGRAM!!!...PERHAPS BECAUSE DENNIS WOULD REQUIRE TOO BIG A PERCENTAGE OF OTIS'S MONEY...OR PERHAPS JUST NOT THE RIGHT CHEMISTRY FOR OTIS...I REALLY DON'T KNOW THOSE DETAILS...BUT OBVIOUSLY...IT NEVER WORKED OUT!!!...I DO THINK, HOWEVER, THAT HAVING DENNIS BACK IN THE TEMPTATIONS WOULD LEND A BIT OF CREDIBILITY TO THE GROUP AT THIS POINT...AT LEAST HAVING ONE LEAD SINGER FROM BACK IN THE DAY!!!...STU

What I want is to see Dennis Edward's Review on stage before or after Otis's group sing. I have seen and heard both groups perform, and I believe Dennis' group would tear down the house.

It would also be nice for Ali Woodson's group to perform at that same concert.

Dennis's group is great. All he needs is some new material like the song he recorded "Naturally."

Of course as far as recording, promotion, and distribution, Otis has all of the advantages.

Dennis & the Tempts review are performing at BB King's here in NYC this week. If I get a chance to go I'll give everyone a review.

The problem for Dennis was always money. He never got what he thought was his due when the lead singer for the Tempts. On some of the group's albums he was on, he was the only Temptation on a lot of the cuts, 'outside' backing singers adding the other vocals.

I know when Dennis 1st left the group, he went to live in Cleveland (where he had relatives) and stopped performing. When he did return to performing, he took on local (repected) group TRUTH and the combination went out as a Tempts review. Dennis even co-wrote some tracks that were later cut by Truth.

Members of his current outfit that have a following in their own right in the UK include Nate Evans & David Sea.

No matter what the problems between Dennis and Otis, Dennis was magnificent in the group. I still remember going to see the Supremes (Jean led) and the Temptations at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and when Dennis sang A Song For You, he had the audience absolutely spellbound. He is an incredible singer with great stage presence and the only way the Temptations could follow David Ruffin. Still get a thrill hearing Dennis sing I Cant Get Next To You. Norman Whitfield knew how to write and produce that man's voice!

Hello, Peeps, I've got a question that I have argued with a few friends of mine about Dennis Edwards, Levi Stubbs and The Motown 25...
The T 'N T battle is going on...

Now...check this out...
There's a part in that Temps Vs Tops footage...

The Tops are just starting "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch..."

Levi: "...Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch..."
Dennis: "You know that I love you..."
>>>Read Levi's lips...he's telling Dennis to 'stop it'.
They both sorta sings,"I can't help myself"...and Levi looks kinda like (I got something for him that he doesn't know)
Dennis finishes the song while Levi has that look on his face...

The next song is, "I know I'm Losing You"
Dennis starts the song off...
Levi steps in for the 2nd line: "It's all over your face..."
Then Levi GETS RIGHT IN DENNIS' FACE and deliver this blow:
"Someone's taking your place. OOooh, baby, I'm losing you."
Then, you see this look on Levi's face like, "I gotcha!!!"

The reason I bring this up is because Ollie Woodson was in the audience that night. Woodson said that it sent a chill up his spine when Levi did that...shortly thereafter, Dennis was gone and Ollie was in... HHHhhmmmmmmmmmm...

Any comments??? Or was this just Dennis and Levi...

INTERESTING,BUT I JUST THINK THAT THERE WERE JUST TWO CLASSIC GROUPS JUST HAVING FUN ON A SPECIAL NIGHT,BESIDES IF THERE WAS ANY ANGER THERE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN THE TNT TOUR THAT FOLLOWED AND RAN FOR SEVERAL YEARS.AS FOR OLLIE WOODSON,THE ONLY THING THAT COMES TO MIND IS THAT DENNIS WAS MORE THAN LIKELY IN HOT WATER AGAIN.

I witnessed TnT many times and the interchange between Dennis and Levi was part of the show. They did it everytime I saw them together. TnT was a great show, I'm surprised nobody recorded it for an album or video.

they did the same thing on a motown anniversary
special

R&B, I'm not saying that it was anger. I'm saying that it looked as if Levi (maybe) knew that Dennis was out and he got in Dennis' face and (basically) told him, "Someone's taking your place." Just a little "food for thought", that's all...
