This week's issue of BILLBOARD is carrying an advertisement for SITSOM on DVD & VHS! The release date will be around April 20th (order date for retail approximately March 15th). The DVD comes in two discs with additional footage.

To help spur orders at your favorite DVD store folks should request SITSOM by name - this will make the buyers/managers "red-flag" SITSOM as a priority title (I've already left a note with the video buyer at my music store to order a bunch).

The retail for the DVD is $22.98 and VHS is $19.98.

Start saving those dollars!!!

There will also be a 4-disc edition of the DVD forthcoming, details to be announced...

I'm guessing that the four disc will combine DVDs and CDs, but regardless of what it is, I'll keep my checkbook at the ready.

Regards,
Ken

For the record, Randy Wells at Artisan is a cool guy who is really into this project.

Thanks for the URL...After reading it, I get a bad feeling that some lazy-assed producer who only knows samples & beats are gonna be in heaven when they get their greedy little fingers on this DVD....oh well....

I have just added some home-video info on our website, including a nice picture of the DVD case. We decided to not use the movie poster artwork -- it was great as a poster, but we needed something that would jump out and grab you for the DVD case.

The marketing campaign looks good for this, and we have some good orders from major retailers. We're talking big in-store promotions, radio and TV ads, soundtrack tie-in -- a whole bunch of stuff. The release date is April 22 (in North America -- I don't know about the international dates).

Also, I have been talking with Allan Slutsky, and it looks like the Funk Brothers' tour is really coming together. They have committments from some great singers, and multiple venues across the USA are lining up. In addition, there are some international tours being seriously discussed. Allan has promised to give me the details ASAP, and I will put them on our website.

Bummer about the Oscars. As has been mentioned, the documentary selection committee definitely has their own priorities. Believe me, it wasn't for lack of trying on our distributor's part. As for the film's marketing campaign, we can have a long conversation about this... Consider the cost of a major TV campaign before you criticize too much.

But now, we all have our fingers crossed for the home video release, the Grammy Awards, and the international theatrical release. Everyone is excited and working hard.

Best to all,
Paul Elliott
