Last July I caught "The 70's Soul Jam" at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. The show was outstanding, especially The Stylistics featuring their new lead, Eban Brown.

The backup band was called "The Style Orchestra."
Does anyone here know anything about the band, who the players are, especially the drummer?

Incidentally, the band behind The Delfonics, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, The Main Ingredient, and The Chi-Lites was a group called "Debbie's Band." Any info on them?

Thanks,

PhillyGroove (Jim Thurman)

Debbie is the woman who works at Universal Attractions who coordinates the tours and an invaluable asset to al of them and has her work cut out for her so I assume that as a tribute and as a way of saying thanks they named the band after her.

She commutes every day between NYC and Philly, as she lives in Philly. I run into her quite alot when I am going back to Philly on the night train.
As far as the Style Orchestra is concerned, I would have to see thew show to give you an answer, as most of those kind of musiciams van be transient and interchangeable.

I have to agree Phillysoulman. I saw the show here in Detroit. I was very impressed with the Stylistics and with their new lead singer. They sounded very strong. The lead sounds so much like Russell. By the way, What's going on with Russell Tomkins Jr. Is he still in the business?

Russell is still in the business and has a new CD which was recently released or will be released soon. If I can find my e-mail with the label info I'll post it later.
