Can anyone shed any light on the record,
Gino is a Coward,
By Gino Washington,
about it coming out in 6 different arrangements,(in one form or another).
And does anyone know anything about the very rare un-issued Acetate of his called,
Rat Race,
that got a few spins in the 80s and possibly early 90s.
All my info regards the acetate cant be found at this moment.
Once again,
any information is very much appreciated.
With thanks,
MEL.

The Rat Race unissued copy had a matrix scratched in that indicated that an Atac label and not a Washpan Label was about to be planned.
And unless anyone knows any different nothing was ever released.
Regards the 6 other cuts, there are 4 That have been passed on to me,on the labels shown.
Correc-tone Records-no.503.
Do-De-Re Records-no.358.
Ric-Tic Records-no.100.
Sonbert Records-3770.
And one that I once had on the W.i.g. Label as well.
Any more info will be greatly appreciated.
(that makes 5 then,up to now.but can anyone confirm that they are all the same record?).
regards,
Mel.
(many thanx to the Flynster for his help).

Mel - I don't haver my notes in front of me - but am pretty sure the 1st version, actually titled "I'm A Coward" - was released on Correc-tone. It didn't do very well and was re-recorded, and also re-titled... "Gino Is A Coward." I think this is the Sonbert 45.
Gino then got this version released on Ed Wingate's Ric-Tic label; it's actually the same pressing as it has the very same RCA matrix numbers. This Ric-Tic 45 was a local hit and I think the Do-De-Re version is something that Gino later released himself, as he owned the label.
You might like to know that the first 45 also has a different (flip-side) recording of "Puppet On A String" too.
Please note that I'm not 100% sure if I have the Sonbert and Correc-tone labels info' in the right order.
I don't know anytthing about it being on WIG.
Cheers, Graham

Hi Mel
I'm glad you're enjoying the CD.
Wasn't Romeo originally released on the Creed label? It's The Debonaires backing Gino on that one.
