As Jean Terrell was mentioned on the other thread can any one tell me if any of these facts are incorrect. As we know she was with the supremes and is the sister of the boxer Ernie Terrell(who is not in any way connected to Tammi Terrell).
Here we go(fingers crossed).
RCA acetate
How long has the train been gone.
Hitsville acetate
Up the ladder to the roof.
Calla(132)and supposedly with her brother Ernie Terrell.
Grandpa's house.
With thanks.

AWe Mel,
you could...you just have to look for and find people that tell you accurate info..talk to a lot of them and the truth comes out...If 10 people tell you one thing and only 1 person tells you the opposite..after enough research you get to the bottom of things..
It is a lot of work though - I'll tell you that much...

"Stone Love" - that's Jean right?..
I absolutely love that song...
I have never heard any of her recordings outside of what she did with The Supremes, what a voice Jean has.

Right on to that Vickie,
I wont commit myself with some other stuff that I know of hers,
as hand on heart
I must admit that when it comes to anything to Do with the 70s era,I am totally out of my depth.
Even regards my so-called specialist subject,
my no1 passion,
the rare/northern soul scene,
I am a strictly 60s uptempo dance lover.
And any of my 45s dont go over the 1974 era,
with only a very few that do,
But I do agree regards the Stone Love and what a good sound it is.
And,as far as I know it is Jean Terrell on it.
(if not, then I am sure we will soon know).
Many thanks Vickie.

The R.C.A. acetate is 'How Long Has That Evening Train Been Gone' as recorded by Jean Terrell & the Andantes (not the Supremes). This is the same song (though faster and harder edged) that appeared on the Diana Ross & the Supremes 'Love Child' album and the 2000 Supremes Box Set. Jean was first signed by Berry Gordy as a solo artist in mid-1969 and began recording for Motown without Cindy or Mary. Shortly thereafter, Berry decided to have Jean fill the spot that Diana Ross was vacating in the Supremes.
I have seen mention of the Hitsville acetate of 'Up the Ladder To the Roof' in some publications. It is supposedly Jean's lead vocal sans the Supremes.
Jean & Ernie Terrell recorded in 1965 for Argo (5511) Dear Abbie/A Hammer & A Nail (I'm not looking at the record now, so this may not be the exact title of the b-side) and in 1967 for Cala.
AVI CD 5015 @1996 features the b-side of Cala 132 and is called Prayer of Love by Ernie & Jean Terrell. I assume Granpa's House was the a-side.
