STU,
I am starting to get the "feel" of this forum
I still am not on board with the Scottish connection YET?!?
Just so I understand here, Is Bruce Miller ( composer, conductor, arranger, reed player, guitar player)your brother? If so, I ran into him on-the-plane while flying back from the Motor City to LA 2 weeks ago. He's the best and another fine example of Detroit-grown talent!

GREETINGS JAY; YES...BRUCE IS MY BROTHER, AND IS ALSO A BIG FAN OF YOUR DAD'S. AS FAR AS THE SCOTTISH CONNECTION GOES...IT'S TOTALLY COOL. APPARENTLY OUR HOMEGROWN MUSIC HAS ALMOST CULT STATUS OVER THERE, AND YOU'D BE AMAZED AT HOW MUCH THESE GUYS/GALS KNOW ABOUT THE MUSIC, PEOPLE, AND PLACES THAT PUT DETROIT ON THE MUSICAL MAP. GLAD YOU'RE TUNED IN TO THE FORUM, AND I'M SURE THAT YOU HAVE MUCH MORE TO CONTRIBUTE...REGARDS...STU

Jay,
If you haven't, I strongly suggest you take the Northern Soul Tour to get the Scottish connection. Great stuff. Tera Shirma is very good too.

Vickie,
I'm right with you. Listenin to "Aint Too Proud to Beg". I'm thrilled that KRTH-101-FM, LA's largest Oldies station is giving FULL TRIBUTE to the Funks. KRTH doesn't often do these types of shows.

Stu, Vickie, Larry and all,
I caught most of the radio special.
Quite good eh!
Say, the Ross version of Ain't No Mountain...
It really sounds like an LA recording...Anyone?
Somehow I prefer the original

Can't comment on the versions Jay.
KRTH treated the Funks with All The Respect They Deserve in a Top Notch Tribute. Quality program all the way.

GREETINGS ALL; JUST GOT HOME. HEARD THE LAST PART OF THE SPECIAL IN THE CAR AND WOW...HIT THE RADIO AND COME IN ON ABOUT THE SECOND VERSE OF "CLOUD NINE"...ALTERNATING GUITAR & DRUM 8 COUNTS...FANTASTIC. HEARD ROBERT WHITE SPEAK ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GUITAR RIFF ON "MY GIRL", REMINDING ONE OF WHAT A SWEET GUY HE WAS. ALSO HEARD JOHNNY GRIFFIN. ALL IN ALL IT SOUNDED GREAT...SORRY I MISSED THE BEGINNING WITH SOME OF THE CLASSIC STUFF. GLAD YOU ALL ENJOYED IT...STU

Jay,
I prefer the original too!
I am glad that there is an original to compare Diana's version too...Makes it a tad more famous
It was indeed a great radio show and a great hour spent ...

This week when K-Earth played a Motown song..everytime I've had the station on they have announced "Now here are the Funk Brothers" no matter what artist is was..was a nice gesture by the DJ's..
