I have a question. I just purchased a greatest hits CD by Barbara Mason & I saw your name come up in the liner notes. I had no idea that you discovered her. If you ever have a chance, would mind discussing how that came about? Thank you! :o)

Hi Mel,no I don't have any info on Teddy & Finger Poppers,Arctic records was my ex partner Jimmy Bishops label, when Barbara Mason got a hit with "YES I'M READY", Jimmy started recording her with out me.I don't know who Les Wright & the Elbejays are,the United 4 did "Baby Don't Do It", I have the record here somewere I will post it when I find it,all of the songs by the United 4 I helped wright, thay were my group, thay lived in Chester Penna my wife Vivian used to sing with them before she started to sing with the Larks, she is the lead singer on "Groovin At The Go Go" "I still Love You" and "Rain".
COMMON, I have to go ,but when I get back I will tell you the Barbara Mason story.
|By MEL&THEN SOME (188.8.131.52) on Monday, October 28, 2002 - 01:33 pm:|
Many thanks for that Weldon, the Virtue acetate must of had the Les Wright and The Elbejays on the Acetate label as a cover up name as I Have it down as the United 4 as well.I think that the Shes puttin you on track by the United 4 on Harthon is one of the greatest dancers to of hit this Rare/Northern soul scene of ours.An absolute stomper. What do you remember about this track? Is Lee Garrett still recording?By the way Weldon,I Have a small confession to make to you,I Fell in love with your wife from 1972 to the present day, everytime I play my Grooving at the Go-GO.Truly a talented pair yourself and wife are. Many thanks, and please send my best wishes to your wife.MEL.

To Mel and thensome, yes Lee Garrett is still around and is as vibrant and wild as ever. Lee is still singing and doing shows. He lives in Portland Oregon. Lee is Bobby and my best friend. We saw him last year when he visited with Bobby and I. I will let Lee know that the forum folks inquired about him.

Hi Mel I don't know what Twilights record you have but here's the numbers of "It's Been So Long" and "She Gonna Put Me Down" Harthon TW 134 A&B.
" Shipwreck" and " For The First Time" Harthon TW 135 A&B, I don't remember all the records we put out, becouse we would record everybody, that we thought was good, some time we would do the same track on four or five acts, then I would try to make a deal,
if I could'nt make a deal we would put it out on Harthon,We only put the record out in Philadelphia so to here from peaple all over the world, takes me out!!!! I fill so good that peaple
like what we did back in the day, I would say about two or three hundred more or lest, see you

KevGo here from NYC...I'm a big fan of Eddie Holman and would like to know if there is any chance of seeing Eddie's Cameo/Parkway material reissued on CD? I have two CD's each with "This Can't Be True" (one with the organ and the other without). Are these masters in your possession or do we have to knock on Allen Klein's door at ABKCO? Please advise.
|By Weldon A. Mc Dougal III (126.96.36.199) on Monday, November 04, 2002 - 04:27 pm:|
Hi KevGo no I don't have any plans of putting out the Comeo\Parkway material of Eddie Holman at this time, but I made a deal with grapevine records in England, to put out a CD of Eddie Holman singing songs that never came out.
