Hello Everyone,
Isn't that Robert White's guitar intro on "My Girl" & is there any footage of him featured in the SITSOM movie?
Peace!

Yes, that is Robert White on the intro to 'My Girl' and there is some home footage of him
playing the intro to 'My Girl' in SITSOM.

Robert had quit playing for a while but had done some recording in the 1990s, incl. the Berry Gordy tribute album. When I met him in 1994 during production of the Temptations box set he was getting excited about playing out again. A few weeks later he was gone. He was a GREAT guy who was shy about getting his due but really craved it AND DESERVED it too - as you'll see in the film.

HW; ALTHOUGH I DIDNT KNOW ROBERT WELL, I WAS IN HIS COMPANY ON A FEW OCCASSIONS. HE HAD WORKED FOR MY BROTHER AT ONE POINT, AND I KNOW THAT MY BROTHER HAD THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR HIS TALENT. I ONCE SAT AROUND WITH ROBERT FOR AN HOUR OR TWO WHILE HE TOLD STORIES ABOUT HIS CAREER, GUITAR IN HAND, JUST TELLING STORIES AND PLAYING LICKS IN BETWEEN. AS YOU SAY, JUST A MODEST AND UNASSUMING GUY. HE TOLD A STORY OF ALL THINGS...GETTING A FOOT FUNGUS WHILE STAYING AT A CHEAP MOTEL IN L.A. NOT MANY PEOPLE COULD HAVE TOLD THAT STORY WHILE ACCOMPANYING HIMSELF WITH RHYTHM LICKS, WHILE FOUR OR FIVE GUYS WERE ROLLING ON THE FLOOR WITH LAUGHTER. THATS THE ROBERT WHITE I REMEMBER...R.I.P.

James Jamerson kicking off the bassline...Robert White coming in on guitar (with fingersnaps in background)...drum-roll from Benny..."I've got sunshine on a cloudy day..," David sings with the Tempts harmonizing behind him...
Can't get any better than that.

I have to say hearing robert playing 'my girl' in the SITSOM trailer is absolutely stunning, the tone of that guitar is wonderful, did he always play a large Gibson hollowbody like the L5??
