Marilyn, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your book, the pictures are fantastic! I especially liked the section on the old DJ's and
various Dance Parties hosts. As a matter of fact, I, my brother Dave (Tenorio), sisters, Sue and Marie were regulars on Mickey Shorr Saturday Dance Party. It brought back warm memories of that time, we had a ball. Lynn (Bruce) and I met at the Wayne Civic League (on Wayne Road) at one of Mickey's Record Hops. I asked him to dance (ladies choice) and the rest is history -- 40 years later. The Miracles were there with their first hit Shop Around. I met George and the Royaltones at the studio, along with many other stars. We had so much fun at the various record hops and meeting all the stars was beyond words. It was fun remembering the old times. Thanks for the memories!!!
GREAT BOOK!!

If anyonw brings their book to any of our "Legends" shows, the artists who are appearing that night will also sign where their photos are. We'll also have copies of the book for sale in the lobby. It makes a cool autograph book!

Yes Marylin, do you take Euro's - we have a few left from our trip to Bruxelles? You know I want a copy. I wonder if we can credit a US bank account from the UK? Infact, I wonder if we can debit them too!!

Hi Millie, yes we are going to the Kontinental's dance on 12/14. Is Sue going? I hope so. At least I know a couple of people there. Lynn is going to call the Count, get the tickets, have a few brews, and do some B.S.ing. Save us a seat.
See you at the dance.

Marilyn & S.R.
I have received your book and read it with much pleasure and delight! So many interesting photos I've never seen before. And I'm so glad you added that one from Jay (Johnson) with him together with Nolan Strong & the Diablos. He gave us that one several years ago, which we have framed and proudly hanging on our livingroom wall!
I have added your book to our web site's Selected Bibliography section:
http://members.aol.com/dowoplives/books.htm
You'll need to scroll down till you get to the section "books about the artists and music" which it is now part of. I included a photo of the book, a brief description, and a clickable link to your email address should they want to order it from you. I cannot list prices since our web site is non-commercial and dedicated to promoting and keeping the sound alive and providing information about the artists and the music from a historical point of view.
In harmony,
Nikki

Nikki,
Thanks for the nice words and for including our book on your web site. Much appreciated!
That shot of Jay with Nolan Strong and Diablos is one of my very favorites also. Jay also gave me a copy for personal display. He's a great guy.

P.S. Here's a story on our book-signing event tomorrow at the Music Menu in Detroit:

S.R. or Marilyn was the 509 club on Woodward also it's street address?
By Fury13 (12.2.196.17) on Thursday, November 07, 2002 - 06:39 pm: |
The original 509 Club was at 509 Woodward (sometimes listed at #501 or #505 too, I believe); that was at the intersection of Larned near the riverfront. After about 1958 or so, it moved up the street to 3929 Woodward, the former Garden Theater. That building became a porno movie house in the '70s-'80s and is still standing.
The original 509 is long gone.
