People talk about that there should be a Edwin Tribute cd put together. If you were putting it together what songs would you include? |

There You Go (vastly underated gem) all about a woman using her special weapon to get whatever she wants when she wants it....... I'm Still A Strugglin Man (plead brother) SOS ( great party song) His catalogue was varied so it would be interesting to see who would sing the songs, I would vote for Dennis Edwards and Wilson Pickett....and Eddie Levert ......and the band played on....... Definately gotta be Dennis Edwards wouldn't mind The Originals fronting a few tracks. As they performed the original backing vocals on the hits for Edwin at Motown such as 25 Miles etc would be nice to see Hank Dixon leading with The Originals backing him up. |

Edwin Starr vocal on "Runnin' Back and Forth" was outstanding. The production was in the mix. If I had to record a Edwin Starr groove it would be "I Want My Baby Back". This tune has lots of energy! Peace, Byron Woods |

Gary you know that a jam is a jam....and "There You Go" is on my All Time Greatestet Hits list..... Dennis Edwards like Edwin would really amaze you with his vocal range....hell they didn't have to scream and shout to be funky, when they tackled those slow deliberate love songs they were something else...... |

Talk about "Engery" I received my DVD this morning of Dear EDWIN, it features his last perforamnce before his untimely sad death, two full Concerts one a UK Radio Station Party in the Park event and then in Germany, and He was still at his best! The DVD Is Region Free and called "25 Miles from Home - Edwin Starr Live" Superb! John |
