Not sure whether this has been mentioned:-

DTroit Exhibition 20 May - 18 July
Urbis Level One Gallery Manchester UK

A tour of the art, music, culture and urban vibe of the city also known as Motown.

Once a model of the modern industrial city, the collapse of the automobile industry, the 1967 race riots and the ensuing 'white flight' from the city to the suburbs gave birth to a centre of urban decay and desolation. Within this failed utopia a new generation of artists and musicians developed. They are the cultural product of the city affectionately known as 'Motown', 'The Motor City', 'Techno City', or simply 'The D' and their work explores the unique urban environment, social history and cultural memory of the city of Detroit.

DTroit is curated by Trevor Schoonmaker.
The exhibition originated at Gigantic Artspace, New York, and has been expanded for Urbis, Manchester.

DTroit features work by: Susan Cook, Doug Coombe, Mark Dancey, Andrew Dosunmu, Thom Klepach, Tyree Guyton, Kenjii, Thomas Rapai, Kyong Park and Mark Powell.

The exhibition also features a playlist of over twenty hours of music which has come out of Detroit in the last forty years, researched and assembled by legendary music journalist Mike Rubin.

Tickets 5
Concessions 3.50

Looks like it is worth a visit
