Hey Detroiters...What's up with Chene Park. I see that there is no line up this summer for the very affordable Wednesday nite jazz concerts. That has been a big part of my summer for the past few years.

Medusa...I've never been to Freedom Hill, but I understand it's a great venue. I really prefer Chene Park; it's very affordable (ie. cheap), and even when the place is jam packed, you can still get out of there in 10-15 minutes after the concert is over.

I see about 3-4 concerts every summer at Chene Park...maybe I'll see you there, cuz I will definitely be at the Lalah Hathaway and Jazz Crusaders shows.

Gary,
I've attended concerts at Chene Park and it was great. I usually try to get tickets up front.
I've seen the Dramatics there more than once, and Waymon Tisdale and so many others.
I just hope Chene Park keeps a lot of of it's acts, but I did hear that Freedom Hill Amphitheatre was taking a lot of the acts out of the city...(all these rumors) smile
If you recall, the citizens around Freedome Hlll were complaining of the noise, but after their time in a courtroom, somehow I guess they're not complaing anymore and the the show still goes on at Freedom Hill.

Medusa, the Freedom Hill noise issue is still a hot button. At the moment, the citizens are pacified waiting for the "sound deadning" walls and "acoustic" panels to be put up to see if it helps the sound. If you have never been there, it basically backs up to many blocks of backyards in the middle of the city. Imagine a venue at about 100 yards from your back fence. I live three miles from it and on a calm night can hear the music clear as a bell - believe me, the citizens are not done with this one yet! All that has happened is the city has settled the lawsuit with the promoters of the music shows. The citizens haven't won anything yet........

I made an error, the Aug. 14th show with the above artist will be at DTE Engergy (Pine Knob).

June 13 at Freedom Hill will be Frankie Beverly & Maze Gerald Levert, and Anthony Hamilton.
