I don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but Wattstax-the 30th an. Special Addition has a September 7th release date. Additional footage contains Isaac Hayes' performances of "Shaft" and "Soulville". This is another one I was too young to see when it originally came out, so I'm excited about "seeing" an album I used to play over and over until I copped every BarKays lick I could steal :-)

For some strange reason, its also going to air on the PBS series "P.O.V." on that same date.

The best in-depth information on Wattstax is from the Stax Site, espcially under the Yahoo groups for Stax Records.
I missed out out on the screening last March over at the Saul Zaentz Film Center/Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. It was noted that Isaac Hayes and Chuck D. (yes, the Public Enemy leader) was there.

Remember the Emotions scene doing PEACE BE STILL? Hard to believe they were still teenagers sounding like that....Amazing. Wish they added the footage from So I Can Love You/Show Me How which was on the album release.

Yes, I really liked the Emotions during their STAX years. Maybe the DVD will have the extra footage.
