Just wanted to pass this review on for you guys to see... Tim DillingerLove Is On My Mind Icons Pen Media by Ryan Fleming, FM Sound Who is Tim Dillinger? This St. Petersburg, Florida native has had a lot on his mind lately. Armed with his new studio effort, Love Is On My Mind, Tim Dillinger just might be the head of the new class of blue-eyed soul. Tim Dillinger started his adventure in the music industry, working in the Christian music genre, and by the age of 18, was working with Ms. Beverly Crawford providing her background vocals. That exposure gave Tim the ability to capture gigs with artists such like Tata Vega, Daryl Coley and Reba Rambo. The coadunation of Tims background vocal work with top notch gospel artists, and the growth as a songwriter from being a literary erudite of the classic authors (James Baldwin, Richard Wright); Dillinger had the skills to move to the forefront of the stage. In attempts to turn a new leaf as a solo artist, Tim moved to Nashville in 2001, and in addition to that move, he also did a genre shift, as he decided to focus on r & b as a freshman solo artist. After 3 years from some major toiling in the studio, courtesy of Icons Pen Publishing, we finally get to discover why love has been on Tims mind. What do you get when you put together the energy and vocal range of a Jon B. and Justin Timberlake, the studious songwriting of a Teena Marie, and a haunting physical resemblance to a one George Michael? My description of Tim Dillinger and his 12-track assortment entitled Love Is On My Mind. The set opens with a church inspired introduction entitled, You Know I Love You. From the outset, Tim displays his vocal arranging skills, as this song has a pleasurable mesh of voices and harmony. The first full track, dubbed The Day You Held Me, is a funky mid-tempo r & b jam encased by a stuttering and staccato backbeat that seemed to come right out of super producer Timbalands studio. The Way You Love Me is another one of Tims soulful interpretations that has a nice walking bass line. Dillinger takes his physical resemblance to George Michael to the studio, as the tune entitled, Just Doesnt Matter, is a strong hint of what Mr. Michael had behind the microphone in his heyday. On the song named Promise To Say, the vocal arrangement is superb, and how about that last high note showing off Tims vocal range? Absolutely, unequivocally without a shadow of a doubt, the albums prized possession is the track entitled, Til The Six Is Nine. The actual song has a prelude where Tim has a spoken segue of love also entitled Til The Six Is Nine. This track displays Dillingers skills as a songwriter, his wide vocal range, and the groove somewhat takes you back to the days of You Are My Lady and Rock Me Tonight of a one Freddie Jackson, proving once again that Tim Dillinger is a student of soul. Other notable tracks include Dreams Come Alive, and the album closer, In Your Arms. Tim is currently making his rounds on the radio circuit conducting interviews, and his gearing for his UK/European Tour, slated to start in August. Go ahead and explore whats on Tims brain, and embrace a collection of good soul music that is truly boundless.
