Yesterday evening I attended the next to last show of Bettye LaVette who has been staying at the Meridien Hotel since the beginning of last week, singing two sets every night... She blew our minds once again with a terrific performance. This lady should be a bigger star than she is although she's highly revered among us soul lovers... She did a few songs from her recent and great CD and of course all the classics we love including a heart wrenching version of the famous 'Let Me Down Easy'... If you talk about an artist who puts soul in her performance, then she is THE one! Backed by a great band (and an excellent Frank Zappa lookalike guitar player) she gave her best... Boy does she still look young at almost 60... very sexy too... I saw some man's eyes about to pop out of their sockets LOL Her outfit during the second set was absolutely ... gorgeous! I love the part where she went offstage to sing walking across the venue. When she sang right into my face with her hand on my shoulder I was in awe! LOL If you have never seen her and she comes your way, DO NOT MISS HER... She's just fabulous!!! Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! | ||

Betty Lavette is the absoulute bomb, caught her show in Chicago at Rosa's and she turned it out, the lady is a living legend and a absolute dynamo on stage.........no one works harder for her money...and she loves her audience.......:-) |
