Check out this view of the Detroit River looking east and past the Ambassador bridge.. Isn't it beautiful? Thanks to Lowell for the image. http://detroityes.com/index.ht ml |

Riverside Park! That's where our father used to take us to see the fireworks. I haven't been there in years, as I see the new benches by the river. Quit impressive. Great shots, as usual, by the master of photography. |

Hi Sis - I used to live on the opposite side of the river, in Windsor. The river front there is dotted with benches and is home to a sculpture park. You can probably see some of it from Detroit; it's not too far. |

If anyone on the forum has not visited Lowell's DetroitYes website. I urge you to do so. ESPECIALLY all you Detroiters and former Detroters! I could get lost for days just marvelling at the wealth of Detroit pictures offered there. Thank you Lowell for keeping the City alive in my memory. |

Now that's a nice shot. It looks quite similar to the view of the Verrazano Bridge here in N.Y.C. Very nice!!! |

Graham - I have visited the riverfront in Windsor quite often. The very place where you are speaking of. I go site seeing, looking at historical marks. I love going over the Ambassador bridge. I've not been there since 911. I have a video documentary on the history of Windsor's connection to the underground railway. |

How hot is it right now Sis? I've never been at height of Summer. Is it too much? 6 weeks to go and I don't care if I fry! |

It is 66 degrees now. June will probably be in the 70-80s. But July is usually the hottest 80-90s. |

Very nice Lowell!! Those rascal zebra mussels may do a lot of damage to our fisheries and water intake pipes by cloging them but they're making our water a cancun turqoise color compared to the grey-green of my childhood. I took a ferryboat over to Peelee island in the middle of lake Erie and was just amazed at the clarity and beautiful blue color of the lake. Captain Lynn |

The tour photos of Federal's and Wards on Greenfield and Grandriver brought back lots of memories. Lowell, you've been around a long time. I still have a TV I purchased from Wards in 1983. It outlasted my 35inch I purchased 8 years ago. Now, looking at the photos of the Wards' building brings to mind, Gino Washington. I didn't know Wonderland Mall was closing, going further west. |

It was out of that very Ward's store that I came out to a flat tire one very cold, clear Winter day. Without gloves I started to change the tire. That turned into a rather painful experience where I was very close to frost bite. My brother would ask me later why I didn't go back into Ward's and buy a pair of gloves before changing the tire. Hmmmm...Duhhh |

LOL Ralph, your brother was smart. Didn't they have a automotive service department? Being a female, I don't know what I would do without Sears & Wards automotive service, and AAA. |

David...great photo. In fact that entire current spring tour on DetroitYes is very good. That's a good one, Ralph. BTW, I had my car worked on at that same Montgomery Wards service center once in an emergency. They did a lousy job on the repairs, you were probably better off changing that tire yourself rather than letting those morons in the garage get their hands on your car. |

There's a very nice little website with a user adjustable camera sponsored by the Great Lakes Marine Institute at the Dossin's Great Lake Museum on Belle Isle. It looks on the river north, south, and across to Windsor, the bridge, and the Detroit Skyline. I go there to get my lake freighter fix. www.glmi.org/webcam doug |
