Greetings All, I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD. LOL! Anyone planning on seeing this movie - this weekend? I'll tell you - this is one creative project, indeed, and I'm sure it is funny. Yet...... What think you all about this phenom of a movie idea. I'm not sure there has ever been a comedic film about a "Plane" - and the people all aboard, but - I could be wrong. Btw - I used to love the O'Jays' "Love Train." http://www.eurweb.com/articles /headlines/05242004/headlines1 465105242004.cfm |

The secret to Airplane was how they used these actors known for such serious/straight-laced performances: Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Leslie Nielson, Barbara Billingsley & Peter Graves, and gave them such ridiculous things to say in the exact same earnest tones for which they were famous. Apparently Robert Stack understood exactly what they were doing and why it was funny, but he had to assure Lloyd Bridges on more than a few occasions that it would not be the end of their careers. Perhaps Lloyd Bridges was tense because he picked the wrong week to give up sniffing glue. I'm going to wait for some reviews before deciding to see Soul Plane, but with Detroit's own John Witherspoon in the cast, there has to be at least a little bit of funny in there. While I was in NYC last month, they were selling bootleg dvds of SOUL PLANE for $5, and this is before the movie even came out. Shoot me, but I did buy one. And the film is actually rather funny. |

I saw a bootleg copy of Soul Plane. I was disappointed. I'd been told that it was really funny but really raunchy. I found it just plain silly. |

IMHO, Airplane 1 & 2 were belly busting funny! I still find these two films to be funny and each time I view, I find so many little nuances that I had previously missed. "Pardon Me Sir, I Speak Jive"! |

Hey Ken, I think that Lloyd was suffuring from cabin decompression syndrome after all of those years on Sea Hunt!!! Airplane was just too funny! Wasn't they made by the same team that gave us the Naked Gun series??? Was that Brockheimer & Zucker or something like that??? I believe the same team gave us the TV series Police Squad. You remember the ending where they would freeze in place & stuff would be happening in the background??? Hilarious stuff!!! |

SoulPlane is rather silly and funny too. I think thats the point. John Witherspoon does his traditionally funny stuff (with a wry twist), but I had a hard time watching K. Hart. He comes off to me as a poor man's Chris Tucker and we know that a little of Chris Tucker can go a long way. In short SoulPlane is a good 90 minute time waster. Its not in the upper echelon of comedy but it has its moments. Looks like Method Man has a career coming soon....and theres a twistin' airline employee who is funny indeed....so if you like to laugh and suspend your belief for a moment watch it....... |

Hey Juice, LMAO! That was my favorite part of the old Police Squad show--the fake freeze-frame at the end while the credits rolled and everybody tried to hold it while this, that and the other happened in the background! |

Hey Wonder B..."Airplane" didn't launch the spoofs...Zucker-Abrahams-Zucke r's "Kentucky Fried Movie" did. U gotta remember the "Uranus" commercials !! "Airplane" I & II and The "Naked Gun" series came after "KFM"...later, Jim Abrahams (along with Pat Profit) did "Hot Shots" and "Hot Shots Part Deaux"....both of which SUCKED ! |

Hey Wicked!!! You're right, I forgot about KFM, that was a crazy movie, funny as you know what!!! Yes I remember those "Uranus" commercials, they were quite slick in getting that one past the censors! John D: I also thought the shootouts were hilarious. Leslie would be ducking behind a garbage can & these guys would have a shootout from 10 feet away & hit everything but each other. That show was just funny. It's too bad that it only lasted for I think 8 episodes. They sure knew that they were on to something, the Naked Gun series was quite successful! |

My wife kept carrying on about how funny "Method Man" was. I just found the whole experience painful. I did like John Witherspoon's bits. |

Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker collaborated as writers and/or directors on Kentucky Fried Movie, Airplane, Police Squad, The Naked Gun movies, Top Secret (you gotta love "Skeet Surfing" ), and Ruthless People. Since then, they have had various amounts of luck working on separate projects. Jerry Zucker directed "Ghost", "Rat Race", and "First Knight" David Zucker directed "Scary Movie 3", "BASEketball", and "My Boss' Daughter" Jim Abrahams directed the "Hot Shots" movies. Hey Wicked I stand corrected LOL I don't think I ever saw KFM though...! What year was it released? Anyway you will probably agree that Airplane is the one that stuck to mind... it is soooo good! Just the opening sequence with the clouds and Jaws Theme was awesome! LOL Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go!
