This just looks such a superb collection and sounds fantastic from what HW has said, I just Universal gave the same fine treatment to EDDIE KENDRICK!

Wow this is great news. Harry, you sure know how to do your thing!

I must buy this for my collection, I have'nt gotten as excited about a cd release in quite a while. In the release of this cd, I can't help myself because David Ruffin is tops in my book.

Hello everyone,

I heard about this a couple of days ago. It was reported on Hip-O select by a another DR fan poster who frequents that site. I can't tell you how EXCITED I am!!! I'm counting the days until this CD is released. I'm a huge DR fan & this is something that is long overdue! I think the release date is tentatively scheduled for June 25. I also have his brother Jimmy's CD & that's great too!

Peace!

26 days & counting!:-)

Harry is The "Closet Maestro" he has put his stamp on all things Motown. I have great respect for his work especially when we start talking about Marvin & The Tempts (wink ;-)) but can we share a little info on the history of this album and why it has taken so long to be released ? Producers, writers, arrangers........????? This is great news indeed. Guys if I'm late bring a brother up to speed ?

Hello everyone,

The release date of the CD is June 25th. I don't know if it will be released in stores(I hope so!) but it will be sold over the net. Is Harry around where he can tell us whether it will be made available in stores on the same date? Any info would be appreciated.

JF: Hey, how are ya? Harry is doing the damn thing, isn't he? lol.

Kdubya: From what I understand, this LP was supposed to be released in '71 but Motown shelved it. Don't know the reason but hopefully, HW will post here & give us some more insight.

Peace!

Hi Common,

Yes, Harry is certainly doing it! He's stepping up to the plate big time & I look forward to what he's gonna come up with next! It's great to see that Harry is one who cares.

I am not sure about John's post and Eddie Kendricks, meaning that I am not familiar with anything released lately on Mr. Kendricks. David was a great singer and like other great lead singers he made some fantastic records with Don Davis, as did Johnnie Taylor, Dramatics, seems that Mr. Davis knew how to handle those lead singers like LJ and David. I like Davids output even more when he left Motown. But in Harry W's capable hands, I'm sure we're in for a treat. I am also looking forward to the Temptations new record which should drop on June 8.........

I don't think any of Eddie Kendricks' post 1973 solo efforts are availible now. There's a great, great Essential Collection released in the UK though.

Kdubya, I'm a big fan of David Ruffin's post Motown stuff too. Wasn't crazy about the ballads on "So Soon We Change" but I love those dance tracks. "Gentleman Ruffin" is certainly one of my favorites. "I've Got A Thing For You" has got to be one of Ruffin's best performances.

Hi...

I've been seeing the posts about the unreleased David Ruffin album finally seeing the light of day, but I'm confused about a couple of things. I haven't seen anything about it anywhere (i.e. CD Universe or CD Now). What label is releasing it? Is it the Hip-O label? I haven't seen anything on their site. Also, what is the exact date. I've seen June 25th, but that's on a Friday. New releases are usually on Tuesdays. I was just wondering what exactly was the deal. Any info could help.

Graham gave me a tape some time ago with Mr Bus Driver on it. An early tune, it is just magnificent.

David Ruffin's voice is just so awesome.

I look forward to this release and hope it's as good as "My whole world ended"

ejkfan7,

Motown Select releases are going to be Friday's, so as to seperate them from store releases.

I understand that Motown Select Handmade CD Series sales will be internet only.

Universal through HW have said orders will be taken for this first release from around the 10th June........... roll on that day! and then next we want all THE EDDIE KENDRICK MOTOWN ALBUMS to be added to the release schedule, I do hope so!

John

Thanks John and David for the information. Zebop, Morning Sun Looks Blue, Let Your Love Rain Down on Me, I Gotta Thing For You & Slow Dance are classic David Ruffin. Great songs, I have them on vinyl, can't find them on CD, which is why I was so interested. Guess I'll mark June 10 on the calendar and get my little fingers ready ........and the band played on...........

Isnt it funny how we cant say David Ruffin without saying Eddie Kendrick and vise versa?

Your observation Dyvanaye is noted and appreciated. I'll just add that I loved their "single" Don't Know Why You're (Dreaming) from the Kendrick & Ruffin (there it is again) LP, Eddie's voice had gotten weaker but David was in fine form and they just flat out jammed.

YES! KDubya! -

I thought I was the only who grooved on that album... I remember the promo's for that. 'With their hot and steamy new ballad...' I have the commercial taped on an old VHS somewhere when they were pushing the album. Sigh.......gotta dig that out...
