JUice I finally managed to get a pic of the front and rear cover of the EAST COAST LP feat Larry Blackmon and Gwen Guthrie (as well as other future Cameo member Gregory Johnson)... Hope you likle it -even though the pic's quality sucks...- At least you know what it looks like now. Hahaha!!! It puzzled me you didn't see the post earlier, but now that I have your comment... LOL The music is a bit on the weird side LOL I mean it hasn't much to do with the trademark Cameo sound we're accustomed to, but it has it's moments... I can't say I spin it every day though! What's up Wonder!! I think that I'll see Haley's comet before I ever see that LP again. I can only imagine how it must sound. I can only imagine how MUCH it would cost. I know that it is rare, but, quality is more important to me than rarity. That would worry me if I were to ever encounter that LP. | ||

Hey Juice can't promise you anything, BUT... if I can ever hook up my PC with my stereo like I intend to in the months to come, I will burn you a copy of this LP on CD so you can hear for yourself... That's just my favourite line from the Undercover Brother movie... LOL (your question suggests the fact that you haven't yet seen that movie so I urge you to rent or get the DVD!) I have the DVD and that part at the end of the movie when the bro' is fighting the white villain is hilarious... the white guy chops off half of the 'fro of Undercover Bro during their fight, and that's where this line comes from.. needless to say the villain gets his ass whooped good! LOL And as far as a personal 'fro, although I am white (LOL) I used to wear my hair like a fro (although it can never be one technically speaking LOL) in the mid-70's in hommage to Jimi Hendrix LOL! Hi Wonder B and Juicefree20, I remember The Cameo Thread from the old post. Also Wonder B great pic by the way. But I don't think this is the same album cover that was discussed before is it? I remember an cover with Larry and a woman on it. Or are these lp's aren't the same in regards. I heard a Westwood One interview once where The Late Gwen Gutherie said she played in a band called East Coast, I forgot what else was said during the interview. I did read once in VIBE that Larry Blackmon mentioned that Gwen played (in a earlier carnation of Cameo) in his band New York City Players. Hey Wonder the question I wanted to ask how was Gwen's keys work sounded to you on the East Coast lp? | ||

Hi Don, Yes, this is the same LP that we discussed in the old thread. This is the LP with Larry & Gwen on it. The other LP was a 1979 release. Wonder can help you out with the rest of the specifics. I've never heard the LP. | ||

The other East Coast LP from 79 is on RSO and is NOT a Larry Blackmon record... (the LP sucks by the way!) And yes Don, this is the LP we talked about earlier on... check the lady in red in the center of the front cover or with the pink hat on the back cover, that's Gwen Guthrie... Her playing is just as Larry's input on the record... not very recognizable... it sure is a very different sound from what they did later on. It's not bad, but if you hadn't the names that we know, you would be hard pressed to recognize them... It's really hard to describe too! LOL Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! | ||
