Even if Larry Marshack has a right to the group name THE MARVELETTES does this mean he/they can outright lie that they are the Motown group? Why would Berry/Motown allow this to go on? That's something I've wondered since the late 70s when these phony groups got going. | ||

Hey Randy, Wasn't the situation regarding the "acquisition" of the name discussed in a few books??? I was equally shocked when I hit a booking site & saw that The Intruders had no original members as well. This name thing is just out of control. There should be a truth in advertising law. Either you sang on those hits, or you did not. Unless officially sanctioned by the originals, this practice should be outlawed. Especially when the original members may not be allowed to capitalize on their own blood, sweat & tears due to who "owns" a certain name. | ||
