Dyva, I've been on an Isaac Hayes kick this week. The man is a musical genius! Him and Barry White sort of borrowed from one another. I've also been listening to quite a bit of 1970's C&W lately for some reason but I won't humiliate myself (anymore than I already have) and list those tracks! LOL. Here's my playlist for this week: DO YOUR THING - Isaac Hayes JOY - Isaac Hayes BODY LANGUAGE - Issac Hayes COME LIVE WITH ME - Issac Hayes A FEW MORE KISSES TO GO - Issac Hayes YOU AND I - Johnny Bristol THE LOLLIPOP MAN - Sylvia I'M IN LOVE - Hodges, James, Smith & Crawford MISS CHERYL - Banda Black Rio NOBODY - Kim Weston I WANNA HOLD ON TO YOU - Loose Change MUSICAL LOVE - Mary Jane Girls

Hey DyvaNaye, We had a great time today at Belle Isle Park (here in Detroit). It was a Walkathon for Diversity. It was really great. All the performers were good...but I have to say (a bit bias on my part)the Pips turned it out!!! (smile)...(I was Gladys. (LOL) Those Guys had their steps together and they looked good and everything was tight. |

I haven't listened to any music today, but I haven't been able to take La Dona-Teena Marie, out of my cd player for most of the week. I took it out once, to listen to Phyllis Hyman at work yesterday, but then it went right back in!!! She will be in the bay area on Memorial Day with Rick James, Cameo, the Isley Bros and the Funk Family Affair(formally Sly & the Family Stone), I can hardly wait!!!!! Yesterday I listened to Luther's 1998 CD "I Know." I just sat and listened to it from start to finish, and did nothing else. On Marcus Miller's website, he said that Luther was the first singer he'd met who was as "studious about singing as musicians are about their instruments." Well said. Luther really is perfection; and I loved my musical voyage yesterday. |

Tony, I'm lovin' Kim Weston's 'Nobody'! What a great record! Kim really should've had a big hit with that one. It's got that late 60's psychedelic vibe to it and Kim really belts it out. Thanks again Caliluv! I've got some TV music stations on my DirectTV and they've got a Classic Soul station that I can't listen to because I don't have the right package. It's the only music station on DirectTV that you have to have the most expensive package to hear! All of the other music stations are free with a basic package. Go Figure! |

How funny to see the Soulfood soundtrack mentioned. I actually bought that for almost no money at all just two days ago. It's actually pretty good and thankfully all the usual hip-hop fillers are left out making it a decent (although fairly commercial) compilation of 90s R&B tracks. Still, it's already one of my favorite soundtrack albums from that particular decade - and to be honest, I don't have many of those as it is. |

K-bee, Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. I too purchased the CD (Soulfood) for almost nothing and put it in the carousel along with several others and enjoyed it immensely. I'm not much for soundtracks but this one hit the spot. |
