I'm wondering if anyone out there can help me find either VHS or DVD of the Jackson 5's Goin' Back to Indiana Special or Save the Children. If not that, is there any complete concert audio from between '71 and '74 |

Chi Drummer - Are you in Chicago? There was a shop selling "not very legal & hard to find videos" at 2600 N. Clark. They closed, but as I recall they might still be selling out of the former owners' house. They had Going Back To Indiana on VHS. I'll look at home for the flyer that I thought I saved. |

I think Erik T means the J5 were on "Motown at The Hollywood Palace" LP, not the Paladium. Hollywood Palace was a venue that taped TV shows every week back in the day. This album was the show that featured Motown acts, one of the first appearances in which Diana Ross introduced the boys on national television. |

He looks even sadder now than back then He still is a great artist, still makes the headlines but unfortunately not in the music papers. Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |

You can find bootleg J5 video and DVDs on ebay almost any time. I see the Going Back to Indiana concert up for sale a lot, also a 1975 concert from Mexico City (no Jermaine, waah!), and once in a while a 1972 Paris concert. The latter is, I think, the best concert footage because the French audience was so quiet, you can actually hear all the harmonies, which are especially good on "I'll Be There." |

Weldon, those kids sure look like they are gettin' down in that picture! How many years did they wear those outfits as part of their act? |

Took me awhile to get back here. Yes, I'm in Chicago. Love the b/w from Save the Children. The other pic is of course Mike & Marlon during better days. I have never heard of the Live in Japan CD but if the picture is correct the show would be from 1972. I've never seen "Indiana" offered on ebay(must be my bad luck)but I'll keep looking (I consider any reasonable price on this spot too) Finally, what's the name of the store you're thinking of Steve? |

I'm not sure about American reissues but my copy of that album is a Canadian Pickwick reissue called 'Stand' (after the Sly cover which is on there), black cover with a photo of the J5 in the middle, no info whatsoever on the back besides a track list, in fact it was this forum that clued me in to what I'd purchased at the time I got it. |

"Stand" was Pickwick's budget version of "Going Back To Indiana" TV soundtrack album. It's been a long time since I played the pickwick LP, but I think, like Pickwick's version of "Supremes at The Copa," it omits one or two tracks. "Save the Children" was a concert movie distributed by Paramount. The J5 were included in its soundtrack, singing, "I Wanna Be Where You Are." If I remember correctly, MJ's was straining his voice a bit while they performed it in probably the original key as the hit record. |

Thanks for the tip about the Pickwick version possibly missing tracks... what a cheesy thing to do! I have the 'Save the Children' lp but remember being underwhelmed by it, and haven't played it for years... maybe I should pull it out for a listen, the show has been mentioned here (favourably). |

Erik, the same thing happens to me me thing happens to me when I play the 'Save the Children' LP. What is it about this album? Could it be the overly compressed sound, the performances, or what? There are some great artists on the album, including Main Ingredient, Nancy Wilson, et al. It's one of those LPs that you pull out every ten years and remember why you rarely play it. What is it about this one? |

I attended most of those (save the children) shows and you're right, even I don't like the LP. I've never seen the actual film though. I'll keep looking though 'cause thanks to you good people I just bought a dvd copy of "Indiana". I'm really looking forward to seeing this special again after 33 years! I'm also on the hunt for the Live in Japan record, so thanks again |
