I had the pleasure of experiencing the incomparable Jimmy Scott Saturday night at "Bones & Blues"...in a revitalized WATTS, Ca. The place was packed and Jimmy did not disappoint !! The crowd ranged in age from the mid 20's to 80+...and he had something for everybody. Folks were finger poppin', head bobbin', and a few Sisters were almost testifyin'...doing that "church house wave". Jimmy had 'em spellbound ! When he sat down to perform...and a music stand was partially obscuring him....you should have seen people scrambling for a piece of wall...just to maintain visual contact. I'm tellin' ya...it was unreal. The reaction of SOME almost took me back to the TP "Ladies Only" tour..if ya get my drift !! (LOL)
To top the night off...Jimmy was recognized for his contributions to the art form by the offices of Gov. Schwarznegger, Mayor Jim Hahn, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Assemblyman Merv Dymally, and the King-Drew Jazz Association.
It was a beautiful night...just beautiful ! (And Soul Sister was lookin' like a million bucks !!) |

Thanks for sharing your observations of Jimmy's performance in Watts. I wish I could have been there, but through your eyes and ears, I have seen and heard the performance, it's the next best thing to being there. |

Soul Sister: I've always wanted to know this question as it pertains to performers. Is Mr. Scott always "up" for performing? If not, what does he do if anything to get "psyched" up? Other performers can answer as well. |

Dear Soul Sister,
I wanted to let you how that I was not able to be there on Saturday night. I had to fly to Chicago to work on a CD cover so I could not attend the show. Etta told me she was feeling a little under the weather and was not able to make it as well. I pray that all went well, please know that I was there in spirit. |

I will tell you that I enjoy playing Mr. Scott's tapes and CDs immensly. Talk about a soothing sound. And I just love Love Ballads. He is terrifi-co at singing them, indeed.

I use Microsoft's Picture It to make my pictures Web Ready. That's the only way that I know how to do it. Anyone else???? |

It was great seeing you and glad you got to spend some time backstage.
That place is amazing! Janine & Tim Watkins have done so much for the community, beautiful people indeed!!

Yes, Jimmy is always up for a performance, sometimes he may be a little weary from travel but once he hits that stage & grabs that mic he goes into auto mode LOL, he transforms into a living heart that touches everyone's heart in the audience, just natural him, he's an amazing man.
