A track i have always liked since i first heard it on an unreleased Motown tape about 15 years ago is -For The Love Of Mike by Patrice Holloway--i have always thought it to be completely unreleased(as it states on the C.D.-The Northern Soul Of Motown-U.K.Release)but i have since heard of a V.I.P.single by Patrice.Does anyone know if this is the track or if not what is the V.I.P. TRACK?

Patrice Holloway had a V.I.P. record pressed up???? If even the 6 copies (a la the Frank Wilson and Andantes)were pressed, I'd be shocked!!! Are you sure you're not confusing this with the Oma Heard on V.I.P.????

She also recorded "The Touch of Venus", and a couple other songs for Motown. I am terribly interested to know if this is true.

Wow! That's a shocker!!! I've never even seen it listed. Ron, was that just one of 6 file copies pressed, or was it actually released commercially?

Hello Robb: yes stock copies were manufactured but I believe due to a problem with the artist the records were ordered to be destoyed and the release was withdrawn, it's hard to say how many copies exist. This record was pressed at ARP in Owosso,MI so any stock remaining of this in their warehouse would have been burned up when the plant caught on fire in October 1972.

I would be happy to transfer the 2 sides to a CD for you this weekend and then I'll email you for an address.

Thanks Ron. Another example of why is SD is so valuable to fans/collectors/archivists like our members.

Ron-Don't make the CD or send it yet. E-mail me first. I have a lot of unreleased Motown on tape, as well as rare records. I'm sure I could package several things for you. I also know you probably have a few other things I'd like to get on CD, too. Maybe we should compare notes first. For example. Would you like to have unreleased Creations, Versatones, Pronouns and Serenaders? You may have other pulled or rare Motown or Detroit records that I can't yet get on commercial CD.

Wow Ron, thanks so much for the great scans. I have always wondered what this single sounds like. Now at least I can see what it looks like for the first time. Tell us story of how you came across this great find.
