Looks like it's finally happening! I got an email from Hip-O-Select tonight stating that it was to be on their web site later this week. They didn't say for sale...but, hopefully soon if not then. |

I don't find much out there to get excited about these days (musically, that is! LOL). But I'm totally psyched to be getting this CD. I remember it being a great record (a friend had it) and always wanting to find it, but never could. |

I just ordered two copies. Unfortunately, there are no extras on the cd. I believe the only material that exists from that concert is on the actual album master. So whatever else they might have performed that evening is lost. |

Mary Wilson, Linda Laurence and Jean Terrell (who were billed respectively, as Mary Wilson, Linda Lorenz and Tina Duress in the original liner notes) formed the Supremes lineup that toured Japan in the Summer of 1973. [This concert, in fact, took place on Sunday, June 3.] For the first time on disc, fans got to hear Jean Terrell singing the hits Diana Ross had made famous - well, Japanese fans did, anyway. The album had never been released in America (until now). The deductive reason for this is probably that Jean left the group not long after the album was recorded, and it might have been confusing to put out a new Supremes record, even a live one, with a different lineup. When Jean Terrell departed for a solo career (following in the footsteps of her predecessor, Diana Ross), she was replaced by Scherrie Payne, who debuted on the next album, 1975s The Supremes. You really have to read the accompanying Japanglish liner notes, reproduced from the original LP insert. Tina Duress, indeed. 1. Introduction - T.C.B 2. Stop! In The Name Of Love 3. Medley: For Once In My Life - I'll Take You There 4. Stoned Love 5. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Quiet Nights OF The Quiet Stars 6. New Hit Medley: Automatically Sunshine - Floy Joy - Nathan Jones - Up The Ladder To The Roof 7. Hit Medley: Reflections - Where Did Our Love Go - Baby Love - My World Is Empty Without You 8. Bad Weather 9. Cherry Cherry Pie 10.Tossin' And Turnin' 11.Somewhere http://hip-oselect.com/catalog ue_supremesjapan.asp |
