Can anyone remember or give the exact title and
author? I'm sure I ordered it from amazon.com
but have never received it. I cannot recall
the exact title or author to check their site.
Thanks,
Randy

The book is "Memories Of The 1962 Motown Revue: A Photographic Journal" by Curtis E. Woodson.

I too ordered it from Amazon. Last month, I received an email from them saying that there would be a delay.

Reese, it is no longer listed on amazon.com!
I do remember the price was changed from $49
to something in the $30 range. But now it is
not listed. Do you know who published the
book? Where can we get it as I've called
bookstores who say they can't get it.

You're right, Reese, it's listed, at $33.97. I've found it by typing the author's name, Curtis E. Woodson. I'll order it tomorrow. Thanks for the info !

Hello All:

I had a post about seeing a presentation on the Woodson book about a month or two ago.

Meet a couple of the gals from the Vandellas and a few other motown folks. It was a great time and I picked up two special editions that Woodson had published for the White / Ellington Project Group in Detroit.

I mentioned about auctioning the second signed copy off on the SD site but No one really showed an interest in it. I was goining to donate the proceeds back to SD, yet no interest was to be found.

The Photo's are really cool and the stories that Curtis tell's are wonderful

OK, my preorder is still listed, but I tried the
title several times and it didn't come up.
It is still due to be shipped to me this week
according to my order with amazon.com.
Thanks, everyone, for sharing.

The problem is that they keep postponing the
shipping date. This is like about the fourth
or fifth date change. The book has been
out since the end of May so I don't know
what the hold up is.

Hi Soulman, I'm from France, and it's the same for me, 10/28 is "Shipping estimate". And from what says Randy, we'll be lucky if we can have it for Christmas !!!

It is almost ironic that we're discussing Amazon.com. About two weeks ago I placed an order for several books, mostly on Motown. Some were new and some were used. They sell second hand items, in this case, books, via their Marketplace Division. Most of the "used" items are brand new or slightly used. In any case, Amazon charged my credit card for the amount of my order, then turned around and said they have to check their inventory for the books. For 10 straight days they tied up my credit card. If you look closely you will note that Amazon.com does not provide a customer service telephone number. It took a bit of determination on my part but I found it. I am providing the numbers FYI:

Phone toll-free in the US and Canada: (800) 201-7575
Phone from outside the US and Canada: (206) 346-2992 or (206)-266-2992
Fax: (206) 266-2950

In the meantime I contacted one of the vendors with the Marketplace Division. Powells.com is a fabulous online book store that has many, MANY Motown titles. I am providing a link to their store:

http://www.powells.com/s?kw=Mo town&Search.x=56&Search.y=17&p okey=skeptopotamus

I reordered my books using Powells and received them in 4 days. Needless to say I was quite pleased. I canceled my order with Amazon and fired off a letter to management. I doubt that it will do any good but it felt good being a consumer activist. BTW, 75% of my over-the-phone customer service phone calls were directed to India. You see, Amazon outsources most of their customer service to a company called http://www.isky.com/.

Good luck obtaining the book all.

Hi Arcadia, thanks for the link, Powells looks very attractive, and -I'm sure- more reliable than amazon, but they don't have the Motown book that we want :o(
