Three years ago today Lowell uploaded the site to the WorldWideWeb. Thinking about it today makes me think we have been around much longer and I don't think life would be the same without a daily trip to this music hungry spiders web. A big thank you goes out to the people who created the music and to the fans who will never forget it. Viva Detroit and the SDF! |

Happy birthday David and Lowell. It was producer Mike Theodore who e-mailed me three years ago to inform me of this little web-site that had a picture tour of the recording studios of Detroit. My studio, Tera Shirma, was included. Along with this tour was a tiny forum of just a handful of people discussing classic R&B. I e-mailed David and introduced myself and was welcomed with open arms by this magnificent group. To be part of this orginization and grow with it has been not only a privelage, but an education for me. The people I have met...the things I have learned...Catching up with long lost friends...an experience like no other. Once again, congratulations to Lowell and David. |

Congratulations on your third anniversary. It is the best site on the web for soul music. Thanks DMeikle and Lowell. I've found quite a few buddies around the world coming to this site, who have the knowledge of the other side of music like I had never dreamed of hearing. It was three years ago on Oct 3rd, that I retired from the government. Now I can talk about them like I want to and don't have to, worry about backlash. |

Happy 3rd Webday indeed! David & Lowell, you must be very proud & deservedly so. In my short time here, I have been both educated & entertained constantly. I have gotten to share viewpoints with music lovers both near & far & have learned a great deal along the way. It has also been my pleasure to get to know many good people here & believe me when I tell you that SoulfulDetroit has some very nice people. It's been a pleasure to read the first hand experiences of Ralph, Dennis, Bobby, Spyder, Russ, Lynn & all of the fellas who were in the trenches, helping to create those Soul classics that we love. How many of us could have ever imagined that we'd be corresponding with so many luminaries? In my wildest dream, I never imagined that. It's been a pleasure to meet, or talk to the diverse crew that we have here. Many of us have formed bonds that may last a lifetime. We've laughed together, prayed together, shared each others pain, consoled each other & have even gotten upset with one another. In the end, we put those things behind us & have continued forward, because that's what family does. In the process, these things have made SoulfulDetroit into the most unique & informative music website that I've ever seen. I can't imagine a day without checking in here at least once, to see what everyone is doing & how they're making out. Whether it's lunchtime at work, or just before I go to bed, I have to check out what's happening with my family here at SoulfulDetroit. As I can tell from all of the passion that everyone has, SoulfulDetroit is not a mere website. It's more than that. It's family & it's become a way of life for ALL of us! I thank the Northern Soul site that had the link for SoulfulDetroit. When I think about the friendships that I've formed, I have to say that SoulfulDetroit has changed my life for the better. That's no small thing! Congratulations to you Lowell & to you David, for having the vision to conceive such a site. You've come a long way from where you started & even though at times there were hard times, it wasn't in vain. For all of the naysayers, SoulfulDetroit is still here & just as vital as ever, if not more so. I expect the upward trend to continue! My thanks to you both, for sharing your baby with us. May the baby that is SoulfulDetroit continue to grow & prosper! Happy Birthday SoulfulDetroit!! May there be 100 more! |

There is no finer site...no matter what the subject matter...anywhere on the web. My thanks to David, Lowell, and Ralph for their massive efforts. I know it hasn't been easy...but this baby you've nurtured for the last three years is truly something to be proud of. My thanks to the many contributors as well. There are just too many folks to name...but the knowledge you've dropped totally kicks the crap out of my (Bach, Beethoven, and Beatles) college Music Appreciation class...and shows how lame THAT instructor was. (LOL) On a more personal note, I have actually shaken the hands of some absolutely great people through SDF...and had a blast hanging out with them. (Ralph, Russ, Stu, Bruce, the divine Ms. "V" (with her sexy, beautiful self !), Teddie...ya'll made the Funk Brothers (L.A.) #1 a night to remember !!) Everyday here feels like a holiday dinner with family....and I'm just happy to be sitting at the "big" table. |

David, Lowell and Ralph, Congratulations on your third birthday, and here's to another wonderful year on Soulful Detroit! Ralph, I'll never forget the day you called me and told me to "check out" the SD website. You were so excited and although at that time I was extremely computer challenged (and still am), I found the site and the rest is history...three years and counting! It's been fun spending time with David and Harry on their annual trips to Detroit, but more than that, reconnecting with people I haven't seen or talked to in years and making new friends has been just wonderful. Ralph, maybe next year you'll be able to join David and Harry in Detroit and then we'll "LET THE PARTY BEGIN!" |

All, Another way to check the archives is to go to "Search Forum." Click on "Recent Posts." I put in 365 days. Type in Username & Password. Then go down and click on "Search Options" (Search Topic?. I clicked on "Archives - Apr or July 2004 and wallllaaaa. Then when it came up - click on the first folder = Archives - Apr or July 2004. I recently read up on some old topics on yesterday - and that is when I got the "Itching In My Heart" to post again. LOL! I hope David doesn't mind me mentioning this. Hey David. Out the door. Ralph, Thanks for your welcome. I may not post a lot but, I always visit to learn. By the way, I read the story on your recording company. I was delightfully surprised to see a picture of Rusty Day and The Midnighters recording at your studio. They were one of my favorite 60's groups. I still have a copy of I Gotta Move backed with the instrumental version. Sadly,Rusty and Bass player Larry Walton are no longer with us. |

Cudaus, Thanks for the update on Rusty. Sorry to hear that. I stay in touch with Fred Saxon, Rusty's former producer and producer of I Gotta Move. I'll pass the news along to him. |

SDF had been from day one a soul addiction. It has opened up an international avenue which has connected me to so many wonderful and knowledgable people , all of whom have made my life so much brighter. |
