The lead singer of the Fantastic Four, "Sweet James" Epps, died a couple of years ago. He had a beautiful voice: spin Girl Have Pity and Goddess of Love. And I think there's only one of The Emeralds left. |

Hey Iris, You can check out the Detroit Emeralds' website on my website at: chancellorofsoul.com.....just just scroll down to my Chancellor's links and click on Abe Tilmon. It's a beautiful site that his family made for him in his memory. Enjoy ! Mike Boone (Chancellor of Soul) chancellorofsoul.com |

Just a short comment on The Fantastic Four: They had a very unique sound, and Mike Terry made some great records with them at Ric Tic. When Motown bought out their contracts, they must have thought they could do well for The Big Company. Yet they didn't really promote them. I think they made several great recordings while at Motown. "I Feel Like I'm Falling In love Again" and Don't Tell Me I'm Crazy" come to mind. Just as Motown refused to use J.J. Barnes, Emanuel Laskey, Chuck Jackson, Billy Eckstine and Frances Nero, Barbara Randolph, Linda Griner and so many others, The Fantastic Four were lost in the shuffle. It's a shame, as I think those could have been their most productive years, and a ticket to stardom. The Detroit Emeralds were pretty darn good, too. |

For the last couple of weeks I've been playing music by groups other than my girls' faves (Tempts and the Stylistics) and of the 30 new songs I've regularly playing for them, 2 of their current faves are: Feel the Need and my fave D.E. song Can't See Myself Doing Without You (not sure of the exact title) They were very well received in my hood at their height for their unique and laid back, cool style and sound. |

Hi Iris, As The Chancellor said, you can check out the Detroit Emeralds website, that Abe Tilmon's grandchildren made in remembrance of him. It's sure to get you a little choked up. I always liked : Feel The Need You Want It, You Got It You're Getting A Little Too Smart Just Now And Then I'll Never Sail The Sea As far as The Fantastic Four goes, I always liked: I Love You Madly Alvin Stone I've Got To Have You Goddess Of Love The Whole World Is A Stage Mixed Up Moods And Attitudes Believe it or not, my favorite is... Got To Have Your Love |

Great groups, I have posted on them both. You want it, You Got was the perfect record. Like Mike I cant help but move when I hear that cut. The background vocals were impeccable. The Fantastic Four were one of my favorite groups from Ric Tic To Motown they were sinfully good. You Gave me Something Man In Love Alvin Stone I've Got To Have You ( sound like the Dells) The Whole World is a Stage was one of my first slow grind, blue light in the basement cuts...whew !!!!! Their rare greatest hits CD stays in the carousel. Kdub |
