Heres a thought for you SDF : The Dells and Dramatics album was one of my all time favorites and after listening to some of the tunes last evening, In my mind thoughts were born, (ahem)I beg to think how many different groups could meld their voices and personalities as well as these groups did back in the day. My favorite song is the combination tune "Love Is Missing From Our Lives". Giving it further thought was how difficult it must be to get studio time, writers & session people to pull it off in order to produce a quality product. Several have tried but probably none have been as sucessful as these two groups. Yes we've had the Temptations & Supremes and The Tops and Tempts co-starring on each othjers vehicles, but if you had your wish (fantasy), what two groups would you combine to make some sweet soul music ? Of course I need'nt say why because I'm sure some of you will address that very issue. While you do I'm gonna go back and play some more Dells and Dramatics......Detroit meets Chicago ! Dam fine album.........guess we'll have to rate Ballroom over Stepping next.....LOL |

As far as The Dells & Dramatics are concerned, Love Is Missing From Our Lives was great! I have to say that the collaboration between The Moments & The Whatnauts on their classic "Girls" was one hell of an underrated song. Talk about Sweet Soul!!! That song was it & I wonder how other collaborations would have sounded. |

If Levi was still singing, I would have loved to hear the Four Tops and the Dells together. |

The Dells and Dramatics is also one of my favorites. Since the O'Jays and Whispers are always touring with each other, I'd like to hear them sing "let me make love to you" with some scatting from the twins. course Eddie's scat stlye is IMO "AWESOME" Then again, I'm not sure if you can call it scat. is anyone here familar with "Who Am I" Iris |

Hello Submarine to all, Hey Kdubya, After I find "Drama V" in 1976, I becomes a Dramatic-fanatic. The next album I buyed was "The Dells Vs. The Dramatics". I likes ALL in this great album, from the illustration by Jack Davis to the music, voices, production, mellow feel... specially in "Tune Up" and "Don't Made Me Promises". I think "Tune Up" perhaps is inspired (in the intro) in "Expressaway To Your heart" by Soul Survivors. Hi, Iris, The vocal intro in "Who Am I" is very doowoop, like a train. I knows O'Jays and Moments recorded one album together on Stang (or Turbo, ?) but ignore if includes some track chanting at 6 voices like in the case of Dramatics and Dells (10 voices at the same time!). Peace & Soul Food! |

Now I'm going to have to dig thru my vinyl collection and give that album a good listen. It's been a while since I've listen to that album. I only remember "Love Is Missing From Our Lives". It would be great to see them on the same tour lineup,in the future. |

Feel better Sis Detroit! OK, how about the O'Jays AND The Temptations (David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin and Otis). I can just "hear" Eddie Kendrick singing 'Love Train' and David jamming on 'Livin for the Weekend'. On the other hand, I can "hear" Eddie Levert singing 'My Girl' and a few other Temptations love songs. Arcadia |

Manny! The Mighty Clouds Of Joy and the O'Jays singing Prayer together would be a gospel & soul heaven. A few years ago here in Finland they organized a contest of the best pop/rock song ever, and the winner was Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin! If the O'Jays' Stairway had had such a rotation on radio that Led Zeppelin had (see, it was a personal favourite by some disc jockeys), things could have been be vice verse. Or perhaps not, for some reason heavy rock is quite popular over here. Best regards Heikki |

Hello Submarine to all, friends! Hey, Heikki, I can imagine the echo in the high vault of a church: the high notes of Joe Ligon combining lead with Eddie Levert and the harmonies by the others...! Stairway To Heaven got also his gospel feel specially at the last part. I always have think Led Zepelin is a true blue-eyed blues player, more than other with most cult sattus (as John Mayall). I never heard before about this Stairway To Heaven version. Anyway i can imagine the enphasis put in the energic "Step-by-step" verses as the most gospel-rock apropiate. Best regards, Peace & Soul Food |

Manny - You are killing me. I would be in heaven if Joe Ligon and Eddie Lavert were to sing that song. They would have the whole building dancing, and I would be leading the way. |

Hey, SisDetroit! You are killing me also with your enthusiastic comments. Heikki, you and me can starting a popular requeriment for a live MCOJ & O'Jays concert and record. About womans, i'm not a fan of girl-groups i likes most female soloists. Anyway I think First Choice with Honey Cone can be explosive. Peace & Soul Food |

I would like to hear the classic lineup of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and the Dells together, only to hear Teddy and Marvin Junior sing together. Marvin was the obvious inspiration for Teddy's style, no question there. Best, Mark |
