In what seems like forever, I finally bought EWFs "Greatest Hits" about 2 weeks ago, and I am very pleased with the sonics of the CD, Mark Wilder of Sony Studios did an awesome editing/mastering job on the compilation, as he did so on the subsequent studio releases and the "Eternal Dance" boxed set. Kudos are in order to him, Sony and of course the legendary Maurice White and Legacy producer Leo Sacks for their attention to detail shining through in all of the releases. THE BEST $9.92 I'VE EVER SPENT! (well it was on sale at Wal-Mart!:-)) Anyway for you, I have a compliment and a question. First a compliment. An outstanding job 2 you and Leo Sacks for the chronlogical "Earth, Wind & Fire Family Tree" that y'all made up for the "Greatest Hits"; your skills in penning liner notes were really on-point and informative. You really DID your research in the history of EWF from their formation as the Salty Peppers in 1969 to their final year at Columbia in 1990 and beyond. GREAT WORK KEV! I was very surprised that one of SDFs own had their hand in this project, and it happened to be you! I especially liked the end notes where it states that you are a "big-time soul collector" and you recieved your first EWF album from big bro Jesse at 7 years old (what was that album anyway?). A great credit to your muscial knowledge and A great ending to the family tree to complete the whole package. Now a ?: in the song "September" (ironically I'm talking about the song in the same month as the title), what does Maurice mean about "blue talk"? What the heck is "blue talk"? Ever since the song came out in '78, I couldn't understand what that means. So please, once and for all, tell me what is the meaning of "blue talk". Is it talking in the dark with a blue light on, or, some sort of slick, jive '70s dialect, something freaky 2 say......inquiring minds want to know.
